I think in the video she did have mace or some spray attached to her purse, and the kids were egging her to use it.

Punishment should go as follows if it were me doling it out. No school bus next year for starters. A parent or other adult must drive to and from school, no rides from friends. Second, a public apology at an assembly at school in front of all their schoolmates and Karen. Thirdly, they should have to perform some type of community service type work to Karen such as cutting her grass every week all summer.
My wife says they should be held back a year since they obviously need some more time to mature, but I think they would better learn the lesson with a little hard work.

I don't know if kicking them off the bus really accomplishes anything though.
I'm sure it would **ss off the parents to have to make arrangements to transport their little ingrate to and from school. But how long is the anger going to last with these brain dead parents, before picking up or dropping off Johnny from school no longer results in Johnny getting an ear-full for inconvenience during the ride?

In other words, getting a ride home would be a plus for the kid. They would be riding directly home in a nice comfy car, over a smelly hot/cold bus. The only way to really punish the kid by kicking them off, is if they were made to walk to school. :D;)

look around. our neighbors, co-workers, and in some cases families are raising these kids.

our society is no longer based on being responsible for one's self or actions. it's always somebody else's fault.

us older folk were kept in line by the threat of a slap to the head. or, cross dad's path and maybe get a fist sandwich. i never went that far so i don't know if dad would have done it.

there are no consequences to bad actions or poor decisions anymore. we've coddled them into nightmares.

that bus lady would have probably been killed if she did anymore than sit there and take the abuse.

He was probable just glad it wasn't him - the coward! I went to a military boarding school. If you didn't walk the line you would get a late night visit from the student council - that was never pretty!

Anybody look at the fund raising site lately?
http://www.indiegogo.com/loveforkarenhklein

Last I checked they raised $492,606, the number goes up every couple minutes if you refresh the page, and there is still 29 days left to contribute.:eek::)
Karen will be taking one heck of a nice vacation indeed!!!

Talk about sweet justice....the kids involved and their parents have been getting a lot of threats and have gone into a little bit of hiding. I'm pretty sure they are in no danger but it appears they are being........bullied....ha, ha.;)
I think if these parents had toughened up earlier and done their job as responsible parents on this issue and the (long lost) golden rule, they and their kids wouldn't be in this position now.
Well, as we all know "what comes around goes around", so its a good lesson for all of us. I'm pretty sure its dinner table talk now for these families...albeit 5-10 years too late.;):)

Wow. I dont even know what else to say. Some things I will just never understand. My kids would have some serious issues if I ever found out they did anything even close to disrespecting their elders at all let alone like that.

This whole thing is unbelievable... I am actually from around the area and have been following it closely- I feel bad for Karen and those kids deserved to be punished to the full extent of the school system. I believe the school system will have more authority then the law does at this point...

What was the person thinking who put this person in the position of bus monitor?

Not to excuse this type of behavior, and I don't, but she clearly has no skills in dealing with what she is assigned to deal with.

The only correct way of dealing with the situation would have put most of us in jail.

I went to a high school once to visit the principal who was a good friend of mine. Just as I approached her office door one 11th grade boy shouted at another to F off. As I walked into the office she asked “He didn’t say that to you, did he?”

I told her no.

She asked “Are you sure?”

I told her “check the hallway, he is still standing.”

When i was a kid I was being harassed and pushed by another student on the bus and when the Administration was told about it nothing happened. So when I told my father about the situation he told me to turn around and hit him the next time he pushed me. So the next time he pushed me i turned around and knocked him out with one punch. Then at that point the administration decided to try to expel me but thanks to my dad that didn't last. So my question is where was the school administration during all this as there are 3 different videos of three different occasions.

IN my opinion these kids are too old for the types of punishment being talked about ( not allowed on the bus) to do much other than pizz them off and make them lash out more. They need boot camp or something!

I agree with PW that Karen was not the type of personality to be in an authority position like that. A much stronger personality was needed. For that the school district or bus contractor is at fault. That does not excuse the kids. They are old enough to make their own choses, and they did, and they are not good choices. There are consequences for our actions, and these kids need to learn that.

I did see that one parent came forward to apologize in person. He asked if she was ready for a personal apology from his son and she said she was not. She accepted the apology and the dad said the kid would definitely have to answer to him because that was not acceptable behavior. Hope the son learns a good lesson!

What's the matter with ya'll?" A bus monitor protects the kids from outside predators and tomfoolery that might hurt themselves. Given basic, well behaved kids. Snakes and predators in the midst demand wardens. I'll bet some reconnoitering is underway. Personalities are developed in the first six years and I see nothing but trouble and heartache coming from those involved.
