Another strange winter.....I think up until last week we had more snow in parts down here than you guys did up there. Had a little over 20" on the ground at one point......now back to grass and snowbanks. A quick dusting this morning, but that didn't last.
Well, that one thing about living farther north -- Once it snows, it usually just keeps piling up, i.e. doesn't melt. Although we missed a good opportunity for about 6 inches a week ago. It was about 5 dergees too warm and we got rain first that changed to a couple of inches of snow.. That settled things some. You better believe I did some work on the snow banks I'd been putting off! At 15 degrees, they're all hard ice, now! Oh, they ARE ice! That won't change, either, until they're gone sometimg in March -- maybe. That was sure hard on the snowmobile trails. They didn't have much base to begin with, and now it's even worse. There's nothing to groom.
Got another couple of inches yesterday -- right before we had to make a trip to the Cities. I suppose we had 80 miles or more of snow covered roads before it got "better". It was hard to see whenever a semi went by the other way with the snow being kicked up -- especially before it was daylight. Couldn't see any car in front of you -- just moving shadows until you got close enough. But, we got what we went for -- except Elk River was all out of black powder! Only 3 cans of 4-F left! I bought one and the guy behind me bought two. Was wanting some 3-F and 2-F, also. Oh, well.
