Re: WWIII

You guys are drinking that kool-aid again.

I am all for democracy in places that want democracy. Ideally, self rule is best, no question. There are, however, prerequisites that must be met before it can succeed.
You must have a strong (dominant?) middle class. Not for nothing did our founding fathers grant the right to vote to white male property owners originally.

Every rise in a fascist state has been preceeded with a democracy of sorts. It is not a easy form of government.

We really need a bunch of benevolent dictators over in the mid-east, much like what's in Jordan--the problem comes in keeping them benevolent or replacing them.

Our founding fathers granted white male property owners the right to vote because at that time it was the worlds veiw that only white male property owners were citizens all others were slaves, malcontents, children, or women. Our world has come a long way.
Last Iraq election I was in the area for seemed to show that those people wanted democracy.

Oh, I see your point. Ya know, I never told anyone here but right after the first gulf war I had a co-worker who was from Iraq. He brought his whole family over here and was doing well.

For some reason he had no intention of going back....even to see other family members..wonder why?

Re: WWIII

Democracy has nothing to do with it PW2.

It has to do with these radical muslims living a religion heart and soul and anyone who disagrees with them is an infadel and deserves to be killed.

That is what we are up against.

I guesstimate about 25% of all muslims worldwide believe in what I stated above.

Ken

Re: WWIII

PW2, democracy and the middle-class do go well together, but does democracy give rise to a middle class, or does a middle class give rise to democracy? Intersesting ideas, but I am not sure I believe either one is necessarily true.

You cite the Founding fathers for their wisdom in your comment. Maybe it would be instructive to delve into what they had to say about it all, huh?

Thanks GW, Rumsfeld, Cheney and Rice. I believe we are at the brink today. Our troops are having to fight off not just Al Queda but now the entire Muslim population over some dumb... cartoon. This is not a good thing.
I take what txs means is that we are in Iraq fighting because of the people he mentioned, W, rice and Rumsfeld. Due to the cartoons, even though W had nothing to do with them, causes the Muslims to bring even more hatred to the table in their fight against Democracy and the US for W's desire to push it down their throats. They may even be getting a greater percentage of the Muslim population on board.

Therefore, W put us in Iraq, and the cartoons made it even more dangerous for us to be there.

By the way, where is OBL? Is he still a free man?

Funny, some are trying to play a numbers game on this thread. Try checking national poll numbers if you want an even more accurate idea of the support, or lack of support W is getting. Around 62% of Americans want us out. At least 11% of them are Republican.

JB, just for future reference, it's ok to call another iboater a loser?

Re: WWIII

I'll contradict you on two accounts, CJY.

First, how free is a man who's constantly hiding or on the move, running for his life? It's just a matter of time before he's a messy red spot in the dirt.

And second, who's taking the poll numbers? Would it be those with an agenda and who are beating the drums? Are we talking ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN? Thought so.

Re: WWIII

When we let the political bickering get too serious we run the risk of alienating good friends. I dont think thier is a person posting on this board that I couldnt fish and have a good time with. This bickering got so bad on another board I post on that it nearly shut them down a few weeks back. what Im trying to say is we need to back off and cool down befour we post. we all have opinions, thats what makes us a great country, but we will not always agree.

Yea TX post a lot of trolls, But he gets a lot of replys, He stimulates our brains, good on him.

A lot of us like a good healthy troll. :D

CYJ,
I can understand how you understand TXS's ridiculous statement.
Who gives a chit about OBL?...to me, he's history. To the likes of you hes alive and well and leading your march..How about this....Hes dead and gone!....if you cant produce him like GW cant produce WMD's, then by your own rules they dont exist..
Thanks for the soft ball :p

Polls? funny how you ended your post touting them after you laugh that your opponents use them at the lead of the paragraph..
:D

It's all coming to fruition. Pick up a Bible and read it. Especially-Revelations. The names seem foreign, but the events (throughout history) reflect.

I'm NOT saying the world ends tomorrow, but one can think so, by reading those passages.

I'm just asking everyone-are YOU ready?

Re: WWIII

Who gives a chit about OBL?...to me, he's history.
What? Are you serious? Is he not spear heading the fight against us and all free nations? Is he not the person responsible for 3000 deaths in 2001? Did he just recently renew his threats against us? Is he not the reason W chose to fight the "war on terrorism," which led to the attack on Iraq?

if you cant produce him like GW cant produce WMD's then by your own rules they dont exist..
HA HA HA, I did not make the rules, W did. He told us what he could produce, on both accounts, WMD and OBL. Therefore, he made the rules by which we are playing.

I never vowed to produce either. W vowed to produce both and to date he is 0 for 2.
Talk about lobbing a soft ball to the plate. Right in the sweet spot.

First, how free is a man who's constantly hiding or on the move, running for his life? It's just a matter of time before he's a messy red spot in the dirt.

How free is he... well let's think about that. He awakes when he is ready, he sleeps when he is ready, he appears on tv when he is ready, he tries to negotiate when he is ready, he threatens us when he is ready, I have never seen him in shackles or cuffs, I have seen a few people beheaded on his behalf, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY HE IS FREE ENOUGH TO PLAN ANOTHER ATTACK! If he is free enough to plan another attack, IS THAT NOT FREE ENOUGH?

Let's make him a messy red spot in the dirt, but until that happens, we are not looking hard enough. Too hear anybody say they are not worried about him, as W did a couple of years ago is just crazy.
