Recenty purchased a 1999 150 Yamaha Saltwater II carb motor. Nice engine.

I have run the motor to a low oil alarm twice now, despite having oil in the lower tank. Naturlly I filled the top tank and went on my merry way. Oil consumption seems right. The motor runs beautifully. It would seem that: either the lower tank is not feeding the upper tank at a fast enough rate. or the lower tank is not feeding the upper tank at all.

What controls this oil transfer? Vacuum from the carb? What could cause this problem? Anyone have a similar experience?

I did run the lower tank down once. Is it possible that the feed line needs primed?

Thanks in advance.

GSD
