I also find that if I exercise at night, that seems to help me. I mountain bike ride or go swimming at night. On the nights I do those things, I seem to go to sleep way easier.

I agree. Even just going out for a walk can make a big difference. Also, doing physical activities can help clear your head. It's a good stress reliever.........

Read a book several years ago about a man that had all kinds of pressure on him(I could relate) every night when he came home he would touch some leaves on a tree same tree every day so his wife finally ask why he did that, his response was that is where he leaves his worries, now I don't do it on a tree but I do do it on the steering wheel of my work van.The way I figure it (since I am not a Doctor ) I can fix it in the morning.Hope that helps

I slept like a baby last night. It's a wonder what 36 hours of staying up will do. I have taken a few anti depressants before, but I felt NOThing. Not a thing, like it was a sugar pill. And I took wellbutrin for few months
The other one was Zoloft
There are several more meds that can be tried. Although they are in the same class, people respond differently to them. There is also the matter of hitting the correct dosage. I'll let you in on a trade secret: It's more of an art than a science to get this right. Keep working with your doc.

I have the same issues when I have numerous problems at work. I find that laying in bed never works and I would think writing things down with a plan on how you plan to attack the problem(not with an actual solution) might help.
One of the standard strategies to fight insomnia to use the bed for only sleeping and one other thing. If you can't sleep, you get out of bed and leave the bedroom.

I also find that if I exercise at night, that seems to help me. I mountain bike ride or go swimming at night. On the nights I do those things, I seem to go to sleep way easier.
For most people, this is counterproductive. It increases nervous system arousal. But if it works, it works. No harm in giving it a shot.

No, you're not weird or crazy. Hang in there!

Oh yes...I agree. You do have to unwind a little bit for at least an hour. Bur after that it seems to help. I just got back from a mountain bike ride and looking forward to hitting the bed.

I keep a rock in my pocket that I picked up when I was being loaded on the evac chopper in Iraq after I was wounded, and when I have a problem that I cant work out, I always take it in my hand and start rubbing it, it reminds me, that I am still here for a reason and it helps me understand I can't solve everything everyday.

Many people would call this a "worry" stone, I call it my savior stone.

I can't say that I have ever had a problem falling asleep, but I could maybe possibly admit to being afraid of waking up due to what I was sleeping next too....

I stopped playing with Jose....

But thats another thread....

I hope you find a solution to your problem

See your doctor, just your regular doctor, no fancy specialist. I self medicated with alcohol for years I thought because of job related stress. I have or had an anxiety disorder. Your doctor can prescribe non- narcotic meds, you might have to fool with dosage and timing but it can help. I also remember the serenity prayer when really stressed out.

Sometimes I don't want to fall asleep because I think the wife may want to knife me :D Oh yea we have a big fight and she sleeps like a baby. I am wide awake worrying about things. So I can relate! Doesn't happen often anymore since I pretty much agreed to say Yes dear! all the time and do what she says do. Beats sleeping with one eye open haha
