Really looking forward to a meet up. It will not only be nice to have another boat in the fleet but I look forward to an exchange of tips and tricks. A lot of the little things I found out along the way may be helpful to you and vice versa... Big fan of paying it forward!!

Sweeettttt!!!! Way to go Capt. Weimed! Lol. Now you are legal to sail the 7 seas... or at least Jamaica Bay and the surrounding coastal waters!

Now if it ever stops raining and we get a couple of days where the heat is not set to rotisserie. You can take you boat out. I have got to get a top for my boat

Weimed, where are you getting Bimini from? I ordered one with my boat and received it a few days ago. Haven't even had time to unbox. Getting stoked about the new boat and upgrades!! We are gonna have very similar set-ups!!!

I don't have one, as of right now I am getting annoyed on how much room all this is taking up in my car. I was going to take out the boat from around 8pm to 9 and decided I did not want the hassle and did not take it out. I am off on Tuesday and my first order of business is to blow up my boat and connect those annoying aluminum floor board connectors and get my boat into the water for a 1-2 hour cruse

I think the trick is to A) Pick the things you are going to need for the specific trip. For example, If I am just going out to cruise, all the fishing goodies stay home. If fishing, especially for a short time, some of the creature comforts stay home. B) Keep streamlining the process until it gets easier/ smoother C) Rethink the whole pocket boating thing (my least favorite, but a real consideration). It IS a juggling act, no doubt about it. It does get easier though. Besides, you have boat, motor and are pretty much all in. hang in there. I get just as frustrated at times and wish I could afford a "real" boat and just go down to the marina, turn key and go. I can't. I know that I can't and this is "a" next best thing. When I am out on the water though, it all seems worth it. Have not taken the boat at nite. You need extra equipment and the safety concerns go up. I hope to some day, and if we meet up that might be a possibility. I would definitely feel safer.

As for the full SUV and fuel smell. I know your pain. Sometimes keep my gear in the van for long stretches of time since I am garage parked and sometimes feels 80% of my extended length van is boat and accessories. It's the price we pay for the price we paid! What time are you thinking about on Tuesday. Wasn't planning to take a day off but maybe I can come down with a 24 hr flu, lol.

Ahhh, since you are free during the day, i guess an early morning trip would work, without me ditching work! Friday is likely my best bet for such a day. It is my scheduled day off but I may have to do OT. We'll see. I just have to make some time to get out. Will be August soon!!! The summer is flying!!

tried to go out today, dolly failed on me bad, engine would not start I packed up and left so fail #2. on the good note I spoke to the parks department and I received authorization to use the ramp in Floyd bennetfield as long as I am not using a trailer. Heres something funny, I seen a guy come back to the ramp as I was packing up , looked like one of those either mariner 4 or something, I know that raft because it was round on all sides plus he was using a mount and a 55lb salt water trolling motor. made me feel like an *****, he pulled up to shore after he fished packed up and left while I was hauling my 15hp and packing back up after a second fail on the water

How did your dolly fail?
How much weight do you think you were carrying?
How heavy is that 15hp motor?
How far do you have to carry everything?

Since I have some extra pvc. Im thinking about making transommwheels with it.

The doctor told me I cant go back out until I find a top for my boat

The boat just crushed it as soon as I put it on but the axel and wheels were solid. I posted how my dolly fell apart in the mariner 4 thread. As for weight I'm not sure maybe 150lb, all I had on the boat was floor boards I hand trucked the ob after I hit it to the water. I have to carry it about 30 yards

Sorry to hear about the dolly. That IS a lot of weight for a PVC rig. Those rigs are more designed for kayaks and the like (IMO). Trust me. Transom wheels are your friend. Not sure about the enginge not starting. Could be many things:confused:

I'm not really feeling my office right now so i can easily be persuaded to take Fri off! We need to get you off on a better note. This rough start may put you off the idea of pocket boating.
As for the mariner guy, i understand the frustration. i sometimes feel that way with the kayayker but they are way more limited in where they can go, muscle power, tides, distance, and they have to be very careful/ skilled. If the mariner guy was crazy enough to go too far or get caught against the tide, he'd probably wish he was us! But again I understand the frustration. In the beginning there was more than one time i left something vital home and failed to launch. Perserverance and practice
