China Made Boats

I went to China couple weeks ago and had chance to visit a boat manufacturer. They make 15' to 18' fiberglass outboard boats (without engines) for Japan, Italy and Austrilia.

I'm just wondering, do we have China made boats selling in the States?

I dont know, but if there are any do you think they got little "Made in China" stickers on the bottom of the hull?

I haven't seen "el honcho Mexico" on anything from There yet.........

If we did, we'd have a lot more boat recalls...

Here's another time when I'm sure everyone's glad I'm not in charge because if I were, I would tax chinese goods at 3-5 times the normal rate to account for all the recalls and crappy products, and to encourage manufacturers to go elsewhere for manufacturing (what's bad for China is good for the US economy).

Many of the big name US yachts are built in China today. Moved to China from Taiwan.

China should not be allowed to make boats.

Among others, you will need to convince Cheoy Lee, Ocean Alexander, Nordhaven, Hampton, and Selene.

Actually no one has a richer boat building tradition than the Chinese. They were building ships (junks) and sailing around the world before the Phoenicians. As for Chinese merchandise flooding our markets, like everything else we only have ourselves to blame.

Speaking of China, I was a little disgusted with Christmas this year. Seemed like everything was made in china. They should put that on the outside of the packaging instead of the inside, I'd be less likely to buy products that I knew were made in China, or some other countries (N. Korea, Syria, etc).

If all parts come from China and assembled in the USA. And then put a Mercury engine on it. Can the dealer claim the boat made in USA?
