Some major progress yesterday. cut out fiberglass from around the fuel tank. Only took two dremel blades.🤣 To my surprise the tank was very easy to lift up. I was gonna remove the rear bulkhead first but what the heck, the tank moved easily and lifted up. Shocker there. surprised how...

Troubleshooting water pump issue on force 85

Impeller replacement is pretty straight forward. Just be sure you order an OEM ( quicksilver) impeller/ seal kit. Lots of youtube vids out there. dropping the lower end of the outboard is only a couple bolts. Once you drop the lower you’ll see the impeller housing. Just make sure you take note...

    1994 mercury force 70hp

Both recommendations from above are spot on. Both of those guys know their stuff. They helped me immensely. be sure that you be patient when adjusting idle screw… give the engine time to settle ( 20/30 seconds) and adjust when messing with idle screw. tell me how I know😂.

    Upholstery Work?

It could be in the thousands if you take it to a shop. I did mine on a standard surger sewing machine. 19 needle, marine grade vinyl and synthetic thread. Just make templates from what vinyl you remove.

Looking good! Just finishing up my pulpit as well. Is there a nav light that goes on it? Where did you procure the 316 Stainless through hull fittings?

More pulpit work. Added a final layer of epoxy to level out the angle piece where attaches to bow. A bit of sanding and grinding. taped off and panted the underside. Not perfect but functional. Fixed some gel coat chips….Top side has been wet sanded. Gotta compound and polish. Hope to add the...

Check float height and be sure the needle and needle seat is spotless. I used a qtip in a drill with a little polishing compound for the brass seat. Cleaned and polish up nicely.

Making progress! soooo. PL adhesive for bulkhead and stringers? Interesting I assume you will glass over once the PL cures and all gases are done? Also I’m about to dig in to my bulkhead. How was it cutting out with the fuel tank still in? Tricky? Or just take your time ?

Bottom up restoration! MY FIRST BOAT

Getting the bearing carrier (as it’s called) out can be tricky. You need to get or build a puller. There’s a couple videos on you tube about it. Next is penetrating oil, heat , and patience. Took me 2 weeks of that process to get mine out. depending on where the engine was salt or fresh water...

Where can we launch in the Chesapeake Bay?

There’s many that can be used. From marinas (might charge you a couple bucks) but you may also be able to dump your trailer there for the day. I’ve used the local ramp in St Michaels. And you could park your trailer on the street. No cost! I Just had to contact local police and give them my...

Update 3-19. happy almost spring… barely got to 40 today finally had a little time to put the last of the pulpit glass on. Little tricky building up the angled piece. Took a few layers. Bayliner just loaded up polyester resin ( no chop strand ). Almost 3/8” in some places. then added a final...

Final layer of fiberglass cut to fit. Getting the hang of how much epoxy to mix up the surface area needed to be wetted out. Next will be flip it over. Wet sand and compound the top. New nav light coming and reinstall the aluminum edge. Once the weather breaks I’ll take out and fit to the boat.
