    Kicker on a CC?

Boating is expensive for sure, I do try to not spend too much on it where I can so that I can spend more on stuff that makes boater better. IE don't buy the marine whatever when you can get something equal for half the price or investing into something good will last 20 years not 2. Saves more...

    Kicker on a CC?

Trolling is the biggest thing I would use it for, the current engine only works for that if going up current. I'm on the St Lawerence River and Lake Ontario as well. I'd love to troll more but sadly just not possible with my current setup as it seems way too fast even just in gear. It says it...

    Kicker on a CC?

The areas I go are not remote by any means, some of the most popular water around and I am within an hour or two of the coast guard station as well as along a busy shipping seaway. Seems like as a backup not much sense.

    Kicker on a CC?

I have a 21.5ft center console in Canada on the St Lawerence River, I mostly run the river with a bit of Lake Ontario. I currently have a Mercury 225 XL Verado on it that is in good condition and runs well. I would say I fish maybe half the engine hours I'm on the water with the rest running...

    Price

I'm guessing he'd be well north of that to make it awesome however you can have a good day on the water with a safe but crappy boat. Assuming no rot and not a bad engine I'm guessing you could fix that up and add some quality of life stuff for under $3k. I've fixed a good number of crappy boats...

    Marine Insurance

I typically check with all of the insurance companies each year. I have a canned email and have it scheduled for 2 months out before renewal. I update a few things in there and it seems to work well. I've saved a ton on home, auto, and boat insurance by doing that and not being afraid to switch...

What gives with helping people with a problem ?????????????

For the help I have gotten here over the years I'd gladly "tip" people on here if I could.

Smoke, high temps and louder than normal

Boat is going in tomorrrow to see what is wrong with it. I did some testing and looking into what I could on the engine and YouTube. Came back pretty much with just about everything is well beyond my mechanical ability and that I really should take it to my mechanic to see what he says.

What gives with helping people with a problem ?????????????

I've been around this forum for a few years now and honestly forget to come back and post a response saying what worked or did not work half the time. You've given me a good kick in the ass to set a timed reminder for a week after a post to come back with a resolution or at least an update.

What thinketh the membership here..... Useful or just hype

You back the boat off the trailer and up to the dock before passengers get in or out of it. It is just a pain for loading/unloading.

What thinketh the membership here..... Useful or just hype

That was what a game warden told me one day when I asked him why it was so stupidly designed.

What thinketh the membership here..... Useful or just hype

Nope more like | ramp | | docks | Hopefully that displays well I don't have an image of my ramp and everything on google shows the park not the ramp and maps view is too blurry to tell. Essentially you have a hell of a jump to the dock which is...

Smoke, high temps and louder than normal

Hmm that would be awesome if it was that. Any idea how big of a job that is on a Mercury 225XL OB? I've only ever had in/out before.

Smoke, high temps and louder than normal

I went last night to fill up the power steering fluid in the boat and make sure I am good on that since it was sitting lower than it should have. When doing this I had to run the engine and noticed the smoke/smell of fuel pretty fast but figured that was because it was cold and the engine was...

Not backing at an angle the dock is about 2-3ft from the end of the ramp. If I put the stern closer to the dock it will require backing in on an angle and not enough room to do that on a busy weekend.

What thinketh the membership here..... Useful or just hype

My bow is probably 2-3ft from the land/side of the ramp and the stern is probably 4-5 ft from the dock. It was not designed to jump from the boat to the dock. It was done that way to handle the larger boats that go in and out there even though 90% are smaller ones.

That is essentially how I have to do it. Sadly I have no good way of getting from the boat to the trailer/water short of going over the bow. The dock is far enough away at my primary ramp that a jump can be dangerous in either the dark or non sunny days.

    Marina Slip Safe?

If I was in one of the slips with pillings yeah that's good but I have a dock finger I am tying to on one side and the other is a stern line back to the main dock. I've got no choice but to fender up and make sure I am good

    Marina Slip Safe?

I'm planning on 3 fenders per side which is the max I can fit. On one side I'll have a dock finger and the other a boat however they fender up.
