Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

For years now I just walk in with a part number. It's easier unless it's like bulk hose or vacuum tube or something.

    Changing manifold on a 2004 3.0.

The replacement I had also had a hole there. Seems it is built to work for both applications. Sealant and an appropriate sized bolt fixed that problem for the 11 years I ran it.

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Any time. I wish I could upload photos as the last ones don't do it justice any longer. Oh, and I retained my 4 rod holders during the restoration. ;)

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

I'll do you one better. I've been waiting 3 months on an order from a friend for a water pump for my 2019 colorado. GM has them on back order for who knows how long. Not like they're an uncommon part or vehicle or anything. I just feel my proactive ordering may become a necessity by the time it...

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

Correction: Local to me. 😅 That's the plan from now on. I just hate not having the option if I need to. Such is life.

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

Yes, napa a 4 digit and wix a 5 I think. But that's the thing, they went down the interchange list for a pf454 and a pf1218 for all however many brands they stocked and not a single one was a stocked item at any store. Napa had them in the warehouse at least but AA or AZ had nada. Just annoying...

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

Happened a few weeks ago but still interesting none the less... I am building a remote mount oil filter kit for my 4.3l. Most kits use a PF454 or similar. You know, possibly one of the more common filter sizes in existence... Lately I noticed all my local auto parts stores (aside from NAPA but...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

All the installation bits are carpeted except the fuel tank hatch. I'll do that with the floor. I also gelcoated the inside of the anchor box and boxes in the cabin. I am at that point. I want to get as much done as possible before loading it onto the trailer but its becoming increasingly...

Bayliner 1950 Capri Classic - Carpet replacement

I'm actually carpeting my resto as I speak and have been using the roberts 6700 per other's on here and my own research... mainly its accessible and works good enough. I bought the marine carpet from a retailer, 20 Oz and it's a bit thinner than the original 4winns material by a hair, nothing...

N W S and NOAA post Hazardous Weather Conditions. When my area is having normal weather. Why ?

A lot of it has to do with removal of natural tree cover and green space as far as things feeling worse. I was up at the lake a few years ago under the cover of the forest on the side of the mountain. Mercury reads 101 but felt great. Left the house at 98 F and that felt absolutely miserable...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

I did a test fit of the original bulkheads, they fit perfectly so I templated them and made new ones. I also built the hush panels and today started carpeting the removable bits. With the parts in for the test fit you could finally see the end. It was nice looking at it how it was supposed to look.

Alpha One Gen II drive slipping under load

If you can get to it easily, mark the engine coupler with a marker relative to the hub/spline and see if it moves. If something in the drive were causing that I'd imagine you'd probably hear it making a racket....

Electric boat maker shutters plant in WV

Having dealt with several lithium incidents over the last few weeks, a boat doesn't come to mind as an ideal application for that chemistry/technology. Actually seems like it checks most of the "what not to do" boxes... Something better will come along though. Granted salt water and electrical...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

I kind of figured. The resin and mat seems overkill for what it is. Just want to give it something more than just being exterior rated lol.

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Here's a question. I've built my seat boxes and more or less matched the original ones. They were just plywood and 2x3s. The new box is 2x4 Douglas fir and the exterior ply. The original boxes had what I assume is just black paint sealing the wood? Same as the transom had around the keyhole...

Electronic Ignition part number and Non-Resistance spark plugs

I used one in a car and it was a hot pile of s***. I'll dumpster dive for points before they ever get my money again...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Figure I also have nearly 4 sheets of 3/4 and 5 sheets of 1/2 in it as well. So it's a lot of glass and structure. Have 40 yards of 1708 in it too. Lots of stuff lol

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Fun day. As of tomorrow, the last piece should be fiberglassed in. The front anchor compartment is now built and I'll gelcoat it tomorrow. Bow eye is installed and remaining wood templated. Big days ahead!

    Covering Built-in Fuel Tank?

My 84 has a removable wood hatch the size of the tank.... the tank could be removed in about 10 minutes (2 beer max) if it was already empty. I like having that level of access so I am retaining it for the rebuild. I'll add, it was one of the few places that was still mostly solid. That being...
