Does this gear and clutch dog look ok?

I'm sure that pin is hardened and will drill hard. I drilled for a few seconds and the drill was walked over to the side. I need to see if I can center punch it or just punch a hole right to the side of it and drill a new hole to hold the bearing

Resealing the lower unit on the same motor right now. Put new gears and stuff in it. Having to put the old style bearing in there because I bought a NOS type gear so it won't work with the roller bearings

How precise is this pin location? I don't think I can drill a hole to the side of it and be accurate down to the thousands of inches. Haha it looks like there is a slot and you can get it close though. But I do not have the part in my hand working off memory from pictures I saw earlier today.

The pin is busted off below the level of the bearing cradle as I will call it.

Wouldn't the pin have been removed when the needle bearing set was installed? Just wondering. I did notice a hole in the upper portion (pinion side of the case) in the cradle the bearing sits in . There is a pin in the prop side still.

Ok I'm back here. Problem has come up. I got all the parts and was going to put thing back together. Turns out the gear o got was an original style that uses a thrust washer and the bronze/brass bushing for the fwd gear. The motor had the newer needle bearing replacement setup. No big deal but...

What is the cause of only getting 75% power at full throttle , but 100% with a bit of choke .

More like a whole can in a few gallons for any hope of that working. A capful in a fuel tank is nothing. Pouring into the carb throat does nothing to clean out the restricted orifice since it goes directly through the throat into the crank case. But to answer the guys question if I was to...

Fuel pumps on these old motors are pretty simple, and don't fail often. I would suspect one possibly if it sat for decades. But the chances that both these 25hp motors pumps and one...even Chinese...that you bought off Amazon and one you rebuilt (there is only a diaphragm or two and little...

You can use automotive fuel line to test it out. Readily available and cheap.but Walmart sells the lines unless you like me and it's a 50 mile or so round trip and you don't go into town every week or so. But now a days with Amazon and walmart.com they bring it to your house. But for me prime...

Out of the two 25hp one fuel pump has to be good. You get the same thing if you swap them? I can't remember what you said about rebuilding them now but it's simple and it works. Just buy the Evinrude or Sierra kit...it will be fine. If the engine has compression it will give a pulse to work the...

Well the suction comes from those pulses from crankcase pressure. The is not enough suction of fuel to draw the fuel up say if there was no fuel pump?

You can have a bad primer ball and it causes all kinds of weird issues.

Walmart also has their own brand of lower unit oil which is what I use often. I think 50-1 is like 2.6? Ounce per gallon. Do yourself a favor and get a mix ratio bottle or cup. No guessing of bottle measure lines that are not that accurate. If your eyeballing use 3 oz per gallon to get close to...
