My loose skim coat which was mainly resin with a little cabosil. Since the main bonding agent had milled fibers in it I'm fine with just using a little cabosil thickened resin to plug the holes.

Had a busy day but got a lot of bs done. Strips on tank per how the manufacturer wants it done, gimbal ring installed, deck ground flat. I noticed on a couple plugs I have some pin holes. I plan today to mix up a loose batch of peanut butter to fill those voids before glassing.

    Process for changing boat trailers?

If blocking it on the transom does cause strain... Well then I really messed up by gutting it lol. This is more or less how every marina I've been to does it. The larger boats typically get railroad timbers supporting the keel and wedges on the transom edges to stabilize it like a cradle...

Didn't do a ton but was able to grind the deck clean and glass in some of the plugs. I'm off next on Monday so I'll hopefully get some more done then. There does seem to be a light nearing the end of the tunnel though.

I picked up my fuel tank.... again... but the vent is properly located. And I ran the boat today.

While I have you all here... my false floor up by the cabin. I cut it tight to the hull to the point I had to tap it to fit in place... will this cause any issues with hard spots and cracking or should I just send it?

Yeah, this boat and the reason dad actually ended up with it was the previous owner left it in storage at his shop. the shrink wrap failed and it filled and sat with water in it for 2 years. Guy no longer wanted it, so he bought it built a drive and that was that. I suspect if that didn't...

I get it. But I am still pretty comfortable saying most of the rot stemmed from the open holes under the carpet in the deck to the foam. While I am not arguing that a wet carpet is bad up here... If the deck is built right and it's taken care of, I really can't see it being any worse. The...

So I elevated the boat more and poured the foam. Seems to have come out pretty good. Tapping and feeling the deck it was warm all around and seems free of voids. I drilled a few extra pilot holes and hot foam there too so I'd say good on that as well. All in all my math says I have about 1,600...

Hahaha. Sadly. I really like the teak look foam but on top of all that, they don't have a blue that works with the boat. And I still have the cabin and bulk heads to figure out. If it was a bow rider I'd be installing the EVA no questions and dealing with the consequences of my actions.

I like the EVA but after seeing the seadek, hydroturf, etc on friends boats at the marina and what little I have on the wave runner, 5 years is about all it seems to last for before it starts to look like crap if you use it... Ultimately I don't want to be redecking every 5-10 years...

First, love the empty bin in the last photo. ;) So as far as the deck, it's going back exactly the way it was, carpet over glass. I was thinking top coat it with gelcoat but I honestly don't see a need to do that as the carpet is the wear item. Originally I planned on glass and snap in or EVA...

And the 1 layer of 1708 and 1 of CSM is more than strong enough?

So now a question.... I plan on getting some glass on the deck tomorrow. My original plan was tab the edges and glass the whole thing but.... it seems I can get away with using 1 continuous piece front to back, wrap the edge to tie to the stringer and then go up the side of the hull... I...

Did some mode work today, and got the first ~3 feet of the port side foamed. May have bought a little too much foam. Im a gallon in and have 6 left.... Between that and dodging heat... it was a long day. As a side note, I'm used to working in the heat, but the condensers of this house are near...

Funny you bring this up. I actually did a couple test pours and recorded them with the inspection camera... I've linked the videos. The boat is still pitched decently, about 1 inch over 2 feet, just the nature of how I was able to block it. It seems I got pretty good fill from the video though...

Huge, huge progress today.... Just walking around now without the foam and glass on the half inch... she's rock solid.

Time for my first bellow change, tips?

You probably could leave the exhaust bellows completely off with no real negative effect or than it being a little loud.

So while I have you all here... For adhering the deck to the hull and stringers, should I do peanut butter/thickened resin or PL. First I was thinking PL but I am starting to think the resin may be a better choice as I can float it better since the PL doesn't like gaps as much.... Edit: and for...
