Acorn anode rubber washer for the lower aluminum bolts.

I believe there are supposed to be two washers... 12-56085 which goes between the anode and bolt and 12-32620 which goes between the gimbal housing and bolt. The bolt kit comes with the one for the anode and the gimbal one needs to be ordered separately....

    Mercury 6.2L ECT Seacore Alternator Replacement . . .

After seeing a couple shots of some other things in the bilge in the other thread, I had anticipated just that. Luckily even a new one is "cheap" even for boat dollars. And thanks for the read. 🍻

68 firebird. A little too far gone to do anything with at the moment. Makes a nice spray bench however lol.

Started stripping and painting transom parts this weekend... just trying to get as much done as possible.

    Transom assembly question

Update: I did some digging through the service manual (#6). 4b-21 has the info I need. Answer is no and probably should've started there. Now to find a bearing....

    Transom assembly question

I'm working on rebuilding my transom assembly. The serial number is 6853141. The issue I am having is the lower gimbal ring pin. The original one to the housing is a needle roller bearing with the oil seals and spacer ring. The needles have disintegrated. The part number is 31-32538. From a...

Manifolds (Trying to figure out what I am looking at)

So... I pulled the manifolds off the engine as 1 whole unit to avoid breaking down the riser joint. Every thing was bone dry. No speckled water like last time no rust spots and traces... just a nice lightly sooty manifold port. I'm pretty well convinced that the cold water plus cold manifold...

One Stringer or Engine Block is slightly compromised Question

Just think... you'll only end up in the asylum once if you do it now.

Manifolds (Trying to figure out what I am looking at)

So on the Alpha, the older ones had lower volume from the water pump. When the Gen II came around, the thermostat housing was redesigned for the cold setup. Thermostat closed, all water goes to manifolds. Thermostat open some goes into the block. The issue becomes that since the manifolds are so...

Manifolds (Trying to figure out what I am looking at)

So I picked up the engine and we probed the area @tpenfield circled above under pressure and got nothing... I was poking around with a screwdriver prior to taking some of those photos... it is possible that is a smear from that.... Anyway, I assembled the engine yesterday and test ran it...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

So that's the thing... The drive being a gen 1 should have a warm manifold. It had the cold manifold setup which has been reported to cause issues with a gen I with overheating (it never did but I didn't use it that much...) The warm setup is supposed to use the 140 F. My issue is if the...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Today I reassembled the engine and test ran it. Now I need to figure out if I should stick with the 160 degree thermostat or swap to a 140... A little background, being a gen I alpha, I swapped to the warm manifold setup which would normally use a 140 F thermostat... The engine is a Thunderbolt...

    Mercury 6.2L ECT Seacore Alternator Replacement . . .

My brain didn't process checking the GM number. My bad stating the obvious. 😅

    Mercury 6.2L ECT Seacore Alternator Replacement . . .

That looks like a 7SI alternator? If so.... the regulator/brush/bearing kits are like $35 for the "marine" approved parts if memory serves. Always nice to have a spare.

    cooking

I do the sous vide too and it's nice if I don't have the time... throw it in the bag and forget about it for a few hours and then when I'm ready to eat, finish it off in the cast iron. Otherwise I do prefer it on the grill, either charcoal or my gas. The gas unit gets insanely hot if you want...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Over the last 2 days... I picked up the engine, dropped the fuel tank off for alterations, cleaned up the garage some and ground out the rest of the wood from the hull. I am going to pick up some foam insulation to template the deck out but for now... I've done all I can do. So I spent some...

Forgot to add, spoke with the company who built the fuel tank, they agree it would be best to move the vent. They don't think it would be much of a problem but it is better safe than sorry.

I agree. I also don't think I need to go all the way to the hull, a simple T version of what was there, as I described earlier, will probably be more than enough.

You can see what I am referring to below. Left side is support removed, right is the horizontal ply with open air underneath. I don't believe this was meant to be structural.
