Help identifying year for a 115hp Mercury Pro Series.

I just bought a 1985 Peterborough with the above outboard on it. I'm trying to do some research on it, but the only tag I see is a serial number that states:0G144441. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry to report I may be leaving the club...

I may no longer be the owner of a 1967 Starcraft. I have a line on a 1956 Peterborough 22.5 foot aluminum boat with a 2000 Merc 115hp outboard on the back. I know the seller from highschool and he's gonna sell it to me if I want it for a VERY fair price. Don't worry- I have a good home lined up...

Mercury 115 engines, particulary model year 2000, what should I know?

Hopefully next week I'm going to go look at a 1956 Peterborough boat that currently has a year 2000 Merc 115. I have no experience with these motors and need to know if there is anything special I need to check, or should I just check the regular stuff such as compression, condition of motor, etc.

Is this boat low in the water?

I'm toying with the idea of buying a pontoon boat and found a 1990 Forester 20' pontoon boat. Here is a pic: http://www.tridentmarina.com/site_page_305/item_image_563943-5.html?listing_page=listing_sum_index_1.html IS it just me, or does this boat sit low in the water on it's pontoons, as...

New 9.8hp Nissan kicker or used Johnson 15hp kicker?

Which do you think is the better way to go for a kicker motor for a 1967 Starcraft Jupiter? I'm seriously toying with the idea of buying a kicker motor and have pretty much narrowed my choices down to these two motors. Both are tiller so the only real differences would be horsepower and new vs...

So CMC power tilt/trim a no-go for Force outboards?

I read in another topic that the Force outboards have a different bolt pattern than normal and that they won't work with the CMC power tilt/trim. Is this true?

It's ok to spin the motor by hand, right?

I fogged my outboard today but due to the fact that the motor isn't wired up because I just finished replacing the transom and haven't finished the mounting/wiring yet I simply cranked the flywheel a few times by hand to distribute the oil. This shouldn't have screwed anything up, right?

    Good HANDHELD marine GPS?

I read recently about a handheld GPS unit that was also usable in a boat. It seems pretty good, but for the life of me, I can't think of where I saw it. Does anyone know of such a thing? I think it was in the $300 price range.

    Probably a STUPID question but...

I'm in the process of reinstalling the outboard motor on my boat after replacing the transom. I noticed that when I have the mounting bracket flush with the transom, the "hooks" on the front of the outboard hang over the edge of the transom by a good 1"+. Is this normal/ok or does something need...

Motor Mounting holes NOT Lining up!!

I replaced the transom in my boat and when I drilled the holes for mounting the motor, I made sure I drilled them through the aluminum skin FIRST so that the holes would line up without any problems. Well, they don't. Anyone have any tips? All I did was remove the motor, lay it some pallets...

ATTN NY boaters looking for a restore project!

I found an add on Craigslist for a 1975 25' Chieftan for $4oo. It does not include a trailer. Here's the link: http://albany.craigslist.org/boa/1383412539.html

    A Few trailer questions.....

So I had to move my trailer today to mow under it and I started checking it out. First off, I noticed that my trailers' tongue measured from the center of the ball receiver to the spot on the trailer where the "V" comes together and connects to the tongue is only 45", while on my dad's trailer...

WHat the heck...I'll start another thread for ANOTHER Starcraft!

Well, as some of you may know, I bought a 1967 starcraft Jupiter a couple of years ago. Here are some pics of how she looked when I brought her home:

Well, the G.D.M.F. transom is finally out!! With pics!

So, here's how the transom looked after I removed it- in THREE days of hard labor! And here's how the area looked afterwards: Originally I thought that the PO must have glued it in place, but looking at it now I think the problem was more that it was SO waterlogged that it had...

Need Starcraft owners' help...particularly Jupiter models.

How the hell do you remove the front cap? I drilled out the rivets and it wiggles pretty freely, but I can't get it to pop off! Does it need to be gently pried off? In cae your wondering, I'm doing it to replace the rubrail in the spring. ( Yeah, I know but I like to get an early start!)

Is one type of plywood better than another?

I'm ready to replace my transom and my question is this- I was in HD and saw they had not only maple plywood but also oak plywood along with the regular plywood. Would there be enough of an advantage to using the oak or maple to offset the $25 to $30 price difference?

Does weight distribution affect how a trailer backs up?

My trailer is a real PITA to back down the boat ramp. It'll turn all by itself even if I keep the truck's wheels straight. Could the boat be too far back on the trailer and the uneven weight didtribution is making it handle crazy? The boat is a 16" aluminum Starcraft with a 50hp Force outboard.

OK to lay an motor on its side?

I'm ready to take the outboard off of my boat and was wondering if it would be okay to just lift it off and lay it on its side on a couple of pallets for awhile unitl I got the transom work done.

Best way to remove the motor??

I have a 1988 Force 50hp outboard that I need to remove to change the transom. My question is what's the best way? There's no lifting ring on top like on my dad's Johnson. I thought maybe I would disconnect everything and have someone help me lift it off and put it on a stand. Either that or I...

How the heck do you remove the steering cable???

I'm trying to get things ready for the removal of my 1988 Force 50hp outboard and I've alreadt hit a snag. I can't get the damn steering arm/cable all the way out of the engine! I loosened the cable mounting nut all the way and also the steering arm from the engine linkage and it pulls right...
