Question about replacing the transom on my Starcraft..

So, I've decided that this spring/summer the transon will get done. I have a 1965 Starcraft and the question I have is this- How do I remove the "drain holes" in the splashwell? I would just remove the transom with them attached, but there's a circular lip around the entire outside of the insert...

    Need some help with a 1972 85 hp... ( don't laugh!)

So my dad has a fifteen foot Glaston boat he bought last year and has yet to run. I was trying to help him today, but it won,t shift into neutral. Now the model # is 85 ESL-72R. So I figured this out to be a 1972 85 hp with the electric shift. Here's my dilema: I read in this forum that this...

    Teflon tape on fuel fittings?

I was wondering if I should put teflon tape around my fuel fitting that screws into the fuel tank. I think there is fuel leaking out from around the threads. Is this ok to do or is it a no-no for boats?

Late 80's 50hp Force outboard owners...

Could someone please post a pic of their shifting linkage- in particular the bias of the adjustment screw on the leg. I want to make sure mine is right because I did a waterpump job last year but never re-adjusted it after I had to seperate them. I read the Clymer manual, but it only tells how...

Is there a MANUAL tilt lock on a 1988 Force 50hp outbaord?

My power tilt is completely shot and replacements are not available and a rebuild would run around $300-$400 so I was wondering if the motor just had a manual lock on it so I could put it up for transport. I see that it has a bracket /bolt combo where the motor slides back in forth in, but I...

    Source for Marinedeck PTP?

I'm kinda getting things together in my head for the replacement of my transom this late spring/early summer and I heard of a product called Marinedeck PTP in a PolarKraft boat brochure that is guaranteed against rot forever. Is this available to the general public, or boat builders only?

    Strange question about rim size....

I know it seems like an obvious "yes", but if I go from an 8" wheel to a 12" wheel does this raise the trailer four inches?

Did Larson make a model called the Sunliner in or around 1964? And if so, was it aluminum or fiberglass?

How do I remove the dashboard on my 1965 Starcraft??

I really want to remove the dash first thing this spring to replace it with a nicely done piece of wood but I ran into problems. I removed all the nut that hold the dash in place, but it doesn't budge. I tried to bring it forward, but it was moving the whole aluminum stripping with it. Any help...

Does this seem like a good deal?

I found a pontoon boat for sale and the description is as follows: This boat has pontoons and frame in great condition with no leaks, flooring is good with no soft spots, "furniture" and carpet are haggard, but functioned fine for me. -no motor -no trailer A perfect base to a houseboat, or...

How tight should throttle cam be?

How tight should throttle cam be? I removed the carb on my 1988 50hp outboard for a rebuild and to do so I needed to remove the throttle cam and failed to notice how tightly it was mounted. Should it be tightned all the way down, or left a little loose?

A little fuel at the carb opening normal on a 1988 50hp outboard?

I rebuilt my carb today and when I went to run the motor, after a some cranking I noticed a bit of fuel spitting out of the carb. Was I flooding the motor?

Gonna rebuild the carb on my 1988 Force 50hp. Any tips'tricks?

I have the Clymer manual and the rebuild seems pretty straightforward enough, but I noticed that the manual talks about a spring that should be in the bowl for the main jet, yet this carb doesn't have one. I thought maybe the previous owner had lost it, but when I took the carb off of my spare...

    Source for lower unit leak?

I have noticed alot of oil floating in the tub I use to run the motor on land. At first I thought it was just residual from the exhaust, but when I drain the water, the part of the lower that was in the water is COVERED in oil. I just drained the lower lube and after filling it late last summer...

I have a 1988 Force 50hp outboard on my boat and I was wondering how I could easily tell if the seals are shot. Also, if water somehow gets past the seals into the lower unit, what's the best way to clean it?

Are they "good" boats? Are there any quirks that they have- particularly the 4 cylinder I/O models?

Is there a way to lock motor in the up posistion?

I have a 50 hp Force outboard on my aluminum boat. I want to push the boat off the trailer to work on it, but I want to lock the motor up. It has power tili, but it doesn't hold for that long. Is there a way to lift the motor like a non-power tilt unit and lock it in place?
