    No need. just keep the spare tires and a bunch of stuff in the bow of the boat to move the CG forward, however add tongue weight. if tongue weight is less than 6% the trailer will sway with a 2000# boat/trailer load, I would have no problem with a 400-500# tongue weight

    are the seats and transom going back into the boat first? referencing the pics from post #4. the seats add structure to the boat if the boat is only rated for 15hp. then look for a 15hp motor

    in addition to the right tools, a good jack and a spare hub. Have a second spare tire. both times hauling a boat from Wisconsin to Florida, I had 2 flats along the way. a piece of rebar going thru a construction zone, and a screw back in 2008. tread delamination and a roofing nail in 2012

    the fact that there are redundant gauges added to the dash says something is shoddy in the boats maintenance past. The carb has been replaced. if the vent tubes are not J tubes, then the carb is not marine. the lack of paint on the carb is a red flag as the zinc castings of the holley are...

    BBC Gen VI are all rollers. (1996-2000) BBC Gen V are sometimes rollers (1991-1995) BBC Mark 4 are flat tappet (1965-1990) SBC vortec are all rollers (1996-2000) and beyond SBC 1988-1995 may be an occasional roller Lou covered the 4.3 All LS and LT motors are rollers

    post a pic looking down the side of the boat. sometimes when foam gets saturated with water and freezes, it will push the hull outward, however where the bulkheads are, it doesnt move and you end up with a slight pucker at the location of the bulkhead.

    Did you do a compression test? Post the numbers Did you test fuel pressure? Post the numbers Did you check the fuel filter for water?

    Did you mix the skirts to make sure they did not collapse? Did you use a bore gauge to make sure the birds are not tapered? Never been able to just replace rings. Usually a 0.020 bore and hone needed as a minimum

    There are only two carb kits for a 2300 marine. They differ by the base gasket. There is either a 350 CFM or 500 CFM carb Your 5.0 has the 500 CFM carb

    Ford hasn't supported the marine industry since 1996. Most of the marine only parts quit being made back then. By 2005 or so the parts were NLA. The aftermarket supports the base engine. However none of the EFI parts or ignition parts are available

    Volvo bought the long block from GM. GM had a few different sources for the piston assembly. There could have been a change. Are these new rings for old pistons?

    Go here. https://forums.iboats.com/threads/searchable-holley-carb-list.771381/ Use the search function and look for your Holley list number. Most Holley carbs need only 5 gaskets, and a few other parts to rebuild Your Holley 2300 carb has 3 (as it's half a 4-barrel)

    Oops, lack of coffee this morning and sort of skimmed ADs answer The AQ271C is a 37 year old motor. Basically a 1987-1989 GM 350. Mehling was one of 3 or 4 supplies back then to GM. Not sure about Sealed Power which is mostly after market . Sealed power back in the late 80s was it's own...

    You have to file fit rings to get the gap you need. It's engine building 101.
