    My boat is being a boat . . .

I got the new power connector and battery for my 'Diacom' laptop . . . put those things in . . . but the power button does not seem to work. I used this several times last year and now nothing but problems. So, maybe I got to order a new power button thingy, if possible.

    MacBook Pro . . . Tragedy

I ran some disc repair ops and there are some errors. (SSD) Probably not worth putting $$$ into a 6 year old laptop. I’m going to order a new one. About $2K configured with extra RAM and SSD space.

    73 mercury 7.5

As @jimmbo explained . . . The shift lever on the outside of the cowling can be mounted several different ways. Most commonly facing forward, but often you see them facing upward. If it is facing upward, then the forward gear will be the lever pushed backwards and the reverse gear will be...

    MacBook Pro . . . Tragedy

Well, my joy was short-lived . . . the MacBook ran all night, but this morning it went blank and cannot reboot. It gets a few seconds into the start up and then dies. Running on a spare right now.

    MacBook Pro . . . Tragedy

I should . . . Well . . . all by itself it restarted and seemed to be stable enough to run. It appears that the 'CleanMyMacX' software, which is supposed to make it run better, caused the thing to crash. I will see if it keeps running, and try to get a back-up of the data. I think I got to...

    MacBook Pro . . . Tragedy

My MacBook laptop of 6 years decided to go into a reboot loop all of a sudden today. I tried a bunch of things, but the situation only got worse. I first was able to boot into safe mode and it would stay running for about a minute then crash . . . blank (black) screen no error message . . ...

Looking for a 35 to 38 foot boat that I can trailer

Most state regs are 102" (8'6") width. I just measured my trailer width . . . about 107" . . The bunks are 68" apart. . The trailer overall length is 37 feet. . . This trailer could probably hold a 35 foot boat, at the most. Probably a 35-38' boat would need even larger Maybe 40 feet...

Showing the Boston Whaler 13 some TLC . . .

The Whaler's time on the water this season was short-lived. Looked to be an ignition problem, and on closer look the wire harness was a crumbling mess in some places. . . I ordered a new wire harness and got it all hooked up . . . . . . . After figuring out there was no fuse provided in the...

    Is Vessel View worth it?

The 521-20 is a fault/warning message that the engine got too hot. It does not mean that the sensor is bad though . . . If you want to get full diagnostic info, find faulty sensors, etc., then VesselView will probably get you only part way there. For same/similar money you could get the Rinda...

Looking for a 35 to 38 foot boat that I can trailer

Here are a few ideas . . . Formula 382 - total head-turner :p Fountain 38 Express . The Formula might be an 8'6" beam, but not a cruiser . The Fountain is wider and has more cabin accommodation. Here is more the cabin cruiser . . . SeaRay 380 . As for lowering 'bridge' or more probably...

2008 Chaparral 275 SSI 8.1 Volvo Penta GXI-J Soft Alarm Issues

Also, found this, which is about the same symptoms as you are seeing . . . Not sure it is any help though . . . https://www.justanswer.com/boat/7ucr4-2010-8-1-gxi-j-engine-started-getting-alarm.html

2008 Chaparral 275 SSI 8.1 Volvo Penta GXI-J Soft Alarm Issues

One thing that I did see was that the Voltage Ref#2 follows the TCP Command slightly. The voltage rises slightly as the 'Command' value goes up and lowers slightly as the 'Command' value goes down. Is there a single connector or a few connectors for the throttle control? I am wondering if...

2008 Chaparral 275 SSI 8.1 Volvo Penta GXI-J Soft Alarm Issues

Another thought that I had was. . . . something going wrong in the throttle control itself. Is there a full wiring diagram for the engine? The one you posted was for the controller itself and somewhat generic. Also, keep in mind that this effort (so far) is only to get the 2 voltage sources...

2008 Chaparral 275 SSI 8.1 Volvo Penta GXI-J Soft Alarm Issues

Not sure. You should use a parts diagram to locate it. I'm reaching the extent of my V-P knowledge, sorry to say (I'm more of a Mercruiser guy, and they use a different approach to the throttle control) . . . Maybe the member @muc might be able to offer some suggestions.

2008 Chaparral 275 SSI 8.1 Volvo Penta GXI-J Soft Alarm Issues

Here is another combo . . . When the TPC are over 50% and the difference between the TCP and the TPS values are 15% or more, the soft warning occurs. 2 examples . . . . . . I am wondering if the TCP and TPS values should be close if not nearly identical, and when they are not and at a...

2008 Chaparral 275 SSI 8.1 Volvo Penta GXI-J Soft Alarm Issues

Also, a 14% TPS at idle speed seems way too high. It should be more like 0-5% . Perhaps the issue is the TPS and not the TCP. Sorry for the multiple messages . . . I am multi-tasking with this thread and my Evinrude 25 HP, which I've been working on much of the day. 🤪
