    Faria SmartCraft Speedometer???

Not sure if this is related to the speedometer/GPS source issue, but . . . I got a VesselView warning while coming back from a day on the boat . . . it turned out to be a 'Compass' warning of some sort, as if the 'compass' thinks we were lost. The warning message said to see dealer...

    Faria SmartCraft Speedometer???

I did find an installation drawing- there are a couple of GPS wires that are supposed to be connected. I’ll be checking those to see if that is the case.🤔

    Faria SmartCraft Speedometer???

If I push the button enough times, I get to a “GPS speed” screen that says “NO DATA”. So maybe a GPS cable is not connected, but I’m not sure if SmartCraft works that way. 🤔

    Faria SmartCraft Speedometer???

If it is a separate feed, then maybe it was sacrificed for the Garmin GPS, which was aftermarket

    Faria SmartCraft Speedometer???

It’s part of the smartcraft system. So, assume it comes over the network cable. here is the antenna (Mercury GPS400) . Not sure if there is a separate feed to the Speedo. I think it is all over the common network cable that connects to all the gauges.

    Faria SmartCraft Speedometer???

Greetings- I have been trying to select the speed input source to be the GPS on my SC1000 Speedometer. The User Manual makes it sound simple (hold - Mode and + buttons for 6 seconds, blah, blah, blah) All the thing wants to do is go into the depth gauge menu, no matter what I do. Any...

Wiring Diagram 2001 Crownline 266 BR

2001 vintage 6.2 would probably be either MEFI-3 or the ECM. The service manual for the engine is what's needed and it will have the wiring diagrams. To clarify for the OP . . . Engine wiring is not boat brand specific, they all use the same wiring based on the motor.

Showing the Boston Whaler 13 some TLC . . .

If I get the engine running properly, I can think about painting it. . . . or . . . If I find something newer in black, then maybe could make a clean swap out. While waiting for the fuel pump kit I was able to fix the mini bilge pump that was not working. It turned out to be a wiring issue. :D

2008 Chaparral 275 SSI 8.1 Volvo Penta GXI-J Soft Alarm Issues

I look at this thread (and issue) as a good example of how complicated the marine engines are today. Even with the computer diagnostics to show the engine data, there are so many variables and situations to consider. Makes my head hurt . . . 🤪

    Mercruiser 5.7L Engine Hoist Recommendations

Some of the gantries at Harbor Freight would do the job, but you would need a solid/paved surface for it to rest on. It is going to cost you about $1K with all the stuff you will need to go along with it. I like the idea of search CL and elsewhere for a used one, then sell it when done.

Quagga and Zebra mussels inspection on mercruiser out drive.

Interesting . . . 140 degree water would not offer much, if any, cooling to the engine or exhaust. A minute or 2 might be fine, but 5 minutes seems like it might be too much. Of course, the engine is under no load to speak of, so it does not generate much heat, just running on the muffs.

    Massive vibrations...then none

Tell us what engine/outdrive you have. My first thought is that 1 (or more) cylinders were not firing. So maybe check all of your spark plug wires. While you are at it you could remove the spark plugs for some inspection and to see if you find any water in the cylinders or an issue with...

    4.3 Gl over heat

Cooling issues seem to be one of the most frequent problems with boat engines, particularly sterndrives (I/O). Since the boat is new-2-you, you should go through the cooling system, which it sounds like you have done some. If the new impeller did not fix the issue, then the overheating may be...

Showing the Boston Whaler 13 some TLC . . .

I should have the fuel pump repair kit in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, I've been working on the shifting and throttle levers/linkages at the engine. They were very stiff, making the shifting and throttle control very difficult. I got the shift lever loosened up (it seems like the pivot...

Maybe my turn for new boat time

Yes, it is all the 'dumb' stuff that boats have now to make it 'easier' for the novice or casual boater. It makes things more complicated than they really need to be IMO.

Maybe my turn for new boat time

I will say, the first year with a new ( or new-2-you) boat seems like a lot of learning, trial & error, and fine tuning. My boat felt like a foreign object last year. This year is much better. I think (hope) you will find the same as time goes on.
