    what is make and model?

A quality pitot tube speedometer, with a transom mounted pitot tube, properly mounted with a solid hose sealed at both ends, will provide a speed that is +- 1 mph of the actual water speed. The "hole" on an outboard motor may not provide accurate results because of changing trim of the motor...

    Lifting plastic trailer fenders?

I bought my first brand new car in 1970. The oem tire brands varied over the years, but in my experience when I ordered a car with a towing package (which is always) I usually got Goodyears. On some of the wife's cars there were varioys brands, some OK, some good and some crappy. My current...

Ideas on getting lake water temp sensor w/o drilling into hull?

Yeah. That's an issue. Obviously, since he won't drill a hole for the normal Temp mount, he's kinda stuck without options.

Ideas on getting lake water temp sensor w/o drilling into hull?

If the string is long enough, and you wait till you open your beer you get an instant reading and no bending over. Regardless, a boat is not your own unless you've drilled dozens of holes in it. You simply have to add a transducer and they all have temp.

Ideas on getting lake water temp sensor w/o drilling into hull?

Buy a pool water temperature gauge. They are mercury, so very accurate. Plastic and only a couplabucks. Tie a string to one and and a lead sinker on the other end. Drop it in the water. I have one in the glove compartment of my jetski. Works beautiful.

How do you guys mix Gas

I have a gasoline John Deere lawn tractor. All my other equipment (weed-wacker, leaf blower, chain saw, garden tiller) have been switched to electric. They are all the same manufacturer so I have a whole pile of batteries. I always get the job done. They actually work better! 1 hour full...

How do you guys mix Gas

PS - just picked up a 1947 2.5 HP Lauson Sportking. Air cooled 4-stroke. Heavy as all heck and more greasy than any other outboard I ever got. Looks like it's a runner too. Fired right up.

How do you guys mix Gas

That's sooooo true. But after many years running 2-strokes, and then thankfully switch to I/Os, I'm glad I had the ability to switch to 4-stroke outboards. I remember the advertisement video done by Evinrude, comparing their OB to a Merc. Stern-to-stern and then WOT. The 'Rude literally...

How do you guys mix Gas

That's true. Today's changes show modern chemistry at its finest. The right surfactant can do wonders. And the right emulsifier can make water blend with anything.

How do you guys mix Gas

Bold or not. You simply weren't respected. You said everything right. The bold was no reason to comment on.

How do you guys mix Gas

He was not shouting. He was emphasizing what was actually common knowledge for those that read boat books and such.. TCW3 mixes instantly. calibrate your gas gauge so you know how much gas you will be adding. Calculate (math) how much oil you need. Put the oil in. Add the gas. We are not...

    Evinrude 40 HP WorkTwin Question

I am that guy too. But I CAN count. Look at my signature.

    Evinrude 40 HP WorkTwin Question

I have a boating friend that couldn't change a sparkplug if his life depended on it. In my area nobody will even consider working on a 2-stroke. If anyone decides to buy an oldie, they must be a diy kinda guy.

    1969 25 Hp Johnny Rude/Kicker?

That's the deal of a century. The guy must have been desperate. You made out like a bandit.

    Wheel Bearing Inspection Interval

I used to pull and repack every year. Then I put on Bearing Buddies. I got lazy. Went 10 years and pulled them again. Sorry I did. All was fine and I wasted my time. Now half of my trailers have EZlubes. I follow the directions and grease once a year, just like with BBs. The ONLY time I...

    Parts availiability ??

Mother, apple pie and Chevrolet. Found on road dead; Fix or repair daily. It's all about what your father liked, brand loyalty you know. A spark plug either works or it doesn't. It either lasts long or lasts short. It meets the Owner's Manual or it doesn't. Personally I Prefer Smith &...

Decals for 1967 Evinrude 80HP Starflite

Are you a member of the Antique Classic Boat Society, or the Antique Outboard Motor Club, and is it your intention to enter the boat / motor in a sanctioned meet? If so, you will need period correct decals or your motor won't even place in the competition. If you simply want the motor to...

    Porpoising Assistance

I have tons of experience with hydrofoils on small outboards. In your case, that isn't what you need. I doubt that the extra 17 # is the culprit, per se'. You need to trim the motor in more.

Thinking of switching controls for an outboard

An interesting concept, and certainly more valuable to collectors today than it was back during it's 2 year run. At the time it was simply too small to interest the masses, because higher HP models were available.

Thinking of switching controls for an outboard

We are in our 70's and we still ride a supercharged jetski in addition to our boats. Maybe not like we stole it but we ain't slouches either. In recent years I have spent a lot more than 15K, the reason being that I don't want to EVER wear it out. I'm to old to fiddle any more. It has to go...
