    1997 Mirrocraft 18' aluminum fish n ski

Yup, it's been a whole year since I purchased the MC and it's still dry. But! Splash time is growing ever closer. (I know, you've heard it before. ) Since my last update, I've been keeping busy, including boat stuff! First and foremost - my health is greatly improved and...

Mouse chewed through power trim cable

I've used Harbor Freight Marine Heat Shrink tubing and it works very well. https://www.harborfreight.com/42-piece-marine-heat-shrink-tubing-67598.html

82 Starcraft MR 180 floor, slight refit and leaks

I went through a bunch of the cheap Harbor Freight bits, but finally switched to the Dewalt Pilot Point bits like Watermann showed above and never broke one of those.

Anyone have experience with exterminating Rats?

I've used Tomcat with good success.

    Mounting outboard.

If it was my boat, I'd bolt it down. I've actually done it before and I like the security that bolts provide over a thumb screw.

82 Starcraft MR 180 floor, slight refit and leaks

Yessir, on my Kingfisher, I used OTF to seal the plywood, but I used gray home porch paint for the deck once the OTF was dry. I mixed in some traction sand. It works very well and is tough and durable. If it gets scuffed, it's very easy to apply a little more paint to any damaged areas or...

1973 starcraft ss restore in progress

I learned (the hard way) to just install the max rated horsepower for the boat. That's what I'm doing with my current project. Yes, it's possible to go lower, but at a minimum, recommendations are to use no less than 75% of max rating. Sometimes less works for awhile in specific...

    Nobody fishing?

The weather finally broke, so my wife and I went to the ol' fishing hole to try our luck. The water was absolutely gin clear and we could see plenty of bluegill right there at the dock. My wife climbed topside and spotted a couple of good sized bass about 50 feet out. So, she caught a...

    Turbo tax

We just finished filing our taxes with Turbo Tax. It worked fine, as it always has. But, we ended up owing this year due to big changes last year. That's the first time we've had to pay since my wife got here almost 13 years ago. It was a real eye opener for her. :sneaky:

Fix here, or go all in...

Seriously though, it's easy to waste a lot of time and money on these kinds of restorations. How much of your life are you willing to give up to fix an old boat that won't be worth the money you put into it? Many people underestimate how long it will take to get their boats splashed after...

    Messed up my laptop

As I said in post 23, it was the network adapter that failed. Hardware failure. But thanks.

    1997 Mirrocraft 18' aluminum fish n ski

I had my first PT session this afternoon and I must say that it helped. I'm looking forward to the next 14 sessions and associated home exercise. I hope to be able to get to a gym to regain and increase strength and if very lucky, avoid replacing my knees altogether. 🤞

    Florida snow

So, Milton got the all time record for Florida snow, 9.8" and that's a lot! The prior record was just 4 inches.

    Turbo tax

My wife and I have used it for a dozen years and it works fine or us.

    1997 Mirrocraft 18' aluminum fish n ski

Maybe when summer gets here? Right now I just don't know for sure. The weather is supposed to break in another week or so. 🤷‍♂️

    Lost keys

On my old Mercs, there is a letter code immediately beneath the key. It's small and really hard to read, but take a pic of it and zoom in and you might get lucky and find that there is one. Good luck!

    Yep, it's happening. https://www.tampabay.com/gallery/2025/01/21/photos-snow-falls-in-florida/ But, we're ready! :ROFLMAO: ❄️ 🌨️
