    My boat is being a boat . . .

Maybe, the fitting/sender is on the P/S cooler. I may try back-flushing the sea water strainers to see if it makes a difference. It seems like any deferred maintenance comes back to bite during the boating season. Since I did not take the drive(s) off to fix the delayed shifting, I did not...

    4.3 vortec to mercruiser conversion

Welcome to iBoats. . . Comp Cams has some marine cams. Generally marine cams are going to be mild and have a decent amount of lobe separation and minimal valve overlap. So, it is a bit difficult to get many extra ponies with the cam. @Scott Danforth and others should have more specific input...

    Anode in heat exchanger

The anode needs good electrical contact to the metal that it is protecting. No tape. I often put a little bit of Permatex on the threads so they will seal.

Fuel Injector Boat vs. Auto Equivalent

You can Google a few videos and other information on testing marine vs. automotive injectors. Isn't it less expensive to buy a new boat than replace the injectors? :ROFLMAO:

    My boat is being a boat . . .

I found the Raw Water Pressure Sensor. In the steering parts diagram (PS fluid cooler) . . I will probably keep an eye on the pressure. I'm assuming if the pressure remains low, that the possibilities would be: Bad sensor Partial restriction in the water flow before the sensor Weak/failing...

    Fuel tank capacity

Not much on the web that comes up with a Google search. If you want to find out the fuel tank capacity, look for a deck plate that can be accessed, where you can see the top of the fuel tank. There should be a certification label located near the sender fitting, and that label will have the...

    My boat is being a boat . . .

Maybe . . . I'm looking for it in the parts diagrams . . . not finding it though. Speaking of Bravo outdrives, the delayed shift on the port engine is back. It is making docking a challenge. I had the Bravos on my maintenance list for this year, but decided to put it off until next...

    My boat is being a boat . . .

In other news, I think I've found a good setting for the trim tabs. . . Last year: cruising was 1.2 mpg This year: cruising is 1.35 mpg I'll take it . . . .

    My boat is being a boat . . .

First time out of the season today . . . We went about 8 miles to a quiet cove. Drank some beers. :D One thing I noticed while cruising (28 mph 3400 RPM . . . 1.35 mpg  ) is that the starboard engine raw water pressure is quite a bit lower than the port engine. Last year, I...

Looking at an old 1978 Bayliner

In my experience checking moisture on my boats with those meters is that glassed wood in good condition will read 10-15%. Exposed wood will read about the same. Readings of 25% and more are cause for concern. Is the transom just exposed wood? or does it have a layer of fiberglass over it?

Head gasket or Cracked block??? 1987 4.3 175/v6

Welcome to iBoats @I buy lemons :( . . . . sorry to hear about the issues. My comments . . . Since the impeller was destroyed, you should look for & remove any remnants of the impeller further along the cooling system. Once you discovered the mayonnaise, did you happen to notice the oil...

Looking at an old 1978 Bayliner

First thing would be to make sure the current owner has proper proof-of-ownership paperwork (Title, registration, etc.) for the boat, trailer, and engines (if you live in a state that title engines). What type of moisture meter? 5-6% is not much, but it depends on if it was the marine type or...
