Showing the Boston Whaler 13 some TLC . . .

About 3 hours of sunshine on Cape Cod this July 4th . . . rained much of the morning and now some sun before the 5:00 thunderstorm rolls in. It feels gross outside though . . . humidity :( I took a closer look at the axle assembly before cutting it up into more bite-size pieces for the dump...

    Top Speed Of Our Boat?

Just curious . . . what is the altitude where you are going in Nevada. Will you have more frequent use of the boat there? What does the mechanic/service prospects look like? It seems like a lot of effort went into getting the boat running right for Colorado; wondering if there will be...

1983 25 HP Evinrude Shifting Very Stiff

Pictures . . . Shift/control, Motor . . If I take the cables off the levers at the motor, the control box operates easily and smoothly. The shift lever at the engine is what's quite stiff.

You'll want to run it a whole bunch to use up the old fuel.

1983 25 HP Evinrude Shifting Very Stiff

Greetings, Model E25ELCTD , Which I believe is 1983 (ish). Cable single lever remote controls . . . electric start. The shifting F-N-R is very stiff and takes an excessive amount of effort on the control lever to get the motor to shift in and out of gear. I've taken a quick look at the parts...

Showing the Boston Whaler 13 some TLC . . .

Quick update . . . The Whaler is launched. . . . . The shifting is very stiff, which has been a problem all along. I thought the new controls would help, but they don't. Without the cables attached to the shift and throttle levers on the motor, the control cables move quite easily. I tried...

    Aluminum vs. plastic fuel tanks

IMO, larger tanks are better off as aluminum, because there can be more internal structure to the tank for strength and baffles. A 55 gallon tank might be on the edge as to when you want to go aluminum.

    Parts help

They are referred to as 'wear pads' on the parts list. Usually the first thing that breaks off the outdrive. I never replace them. :)

    1986 seaswirl nightmare

This could be a tough road to travel, considering the OMC I/O, unless you are mechanically oriented. It sounds like you are going to need to go through many aspects of the engine and outdrive to make sure it is all working.

    1980 Mercury 9.8hp outboard

Probably some impeller bits went up into the cooling passages . also if it had overheated, there is a plastic washer at the top of the copper intake tube that can melt. and restrict the water flow. Not sure when Merc changed to the phenolic material.

If you have a roller trailer used in salt water....check this....

    I don't care what Boston Whaler recommends . . . I'm keeping the roller trailer . . . maybe I'll get bunk rollers as a compromise :ROFLMAO:

If you have a roller trailer used in salt water....check this....

I'm re-building my small trailer used for the Boston Whaler. It is an older trailer (Yacht Club brand). The frame is galvanized, but many of the component parts are regular steel. Leaf springs and associated hardware have a certain life span in salt water. The roller mounts have some...

Showing the Boston Whaler 13 some TLC . . .

Yup . . . It was all polyurethane about 5 years ago. The sun had its way. I also discovered that the bilge pump is not working. So, I have a new one to install.
