    1998 4.3 GL Head Replacement

Yes the 090 M had metric bolts on the starter, side motor mounts, and flyhweel cover. every thing else was SAE... Found this out when I did a 4.3 to 5.0 conversion. to the OP yes easier if it is a non metric block but a metric will work with about $40 worth of bolts. Michigan motorz also...

Bravo 3 loss of lube oil - slowly then rapidly x2

I wouldnt be concerned on either. Would look in the housing -if the aluminum casting is scored up or it is really loose with some play you are ok. If it is loose I have staked housings like this to create a raised area to tighten up the fit as a last resort

Manifolds (Trying to figure out what I am looking at)

The 140 was to help reduce salt and scale crystallization. I believe the 160 was done to improve emissions. I have a warm manifold that was factory with a 160 stat runs about 170-175 I am I fresh so no real scale issue Personally I would stick w the 160 and use salt away or similar flushing...

I think that is a drain hole for the exhaust cavity or water ports and if raised you will get water coming out. Does it stay at temp? Exhaust manis not too hot ?

    Mercontrol cables

You would need to ohm test the switches and then jumper your trim limit Switch since you don’t have one. Entirely possible that the wiring has corrosion inside the wires. Had this on my brothers boat a couple years back, center console , harnes in water filled conduit under floor up to helm had...

    Mercontrol cables

I thought the middle and upper needed to be pushed to get to trailer , one I think was just trim. Going off memory from neighbors old start craft

    Rinker 282 trailer

Should be big enough that the rear bunks extend just beyond the transom. Either it is not actually for a 28 ft boat or the bow stop needs to come forward. you will pick up a few feet as the bow stop where it hits the angle of the bow is behind the front of the boat.

Anybody know about Ford DIS ignitions?

I think that is invaluable experience for a kid his age. I started screwing around with cars helping my dad, which led to me restoring old cars, learning to weld & rebuild engines/trans. When I started working in the beverage production industry in late 90's this experience helped me...

MerCruiser 3.0 Runs Poorly As It Warms Up

Have you pulled the siphon tube from the gas tank to see if there is a screen in it? was thinking either this , the antiphon valve may be restricting fuel flow. Cant recall if you checked spark strength after it messes up or tried running it on a sperate 5 gal tank . In the end might need a...

6.2 MPI Whine noise when revs

Yeah we have been through what work was done and how this can happen over the winter. I suspect you will find either water got in bellows or water got in the gear lube and corroded a bearing in the drive.

    Replacement Prop Selection

Agreed something is not right. Would also verify firing order is correct. I thought on the SBC there are two cylinders that can get swapped wires and still run ok ish. Has tach been verified for accuracy ?

Please help with engine type selection!

Yeah no way a 5.0 would do that. Answer depends on what u want out of the boat and how much you want to spend. as mentioned you would be better off getting a 96 and up vortec engine . If it were me I would get a new long block and exhaust and intake manifolds . Drop in would be the same vintage...

'88 5.7 inboard dies after running smooth, restarts after few minutes, smooth again

Yeah Sierra is a better respected aftermarket supplier, but you never hear I bought the OEM part and it failed or was SOL in the box.. Also there are so many counterfeit parts suppliers online now. There is a toyota mechanic on you tube called Car Care Nut, he did a whole video on how to spot...
