Smokercraft 162 pro mag bow always high

smoker craft 162 mag That is how that boat runs at around 25 MPH judging from the size of the spray droplets. That's not high, that's normal. 70 hp should be plenty for that hull with a couple of folks and gear. As Roscoe mentioned do you have power trim. Note the angle of the engine vs...

New prop floats on prop shaft and has some play

https://www.amazon.com/Max-Motosports-Aluminum-Propeller-48-73136A40/dp/B075LK22WM Well it says it fits your engine and has the hub kit included. Maybe there is a hub kit mix-up with this one and the current prop? Still have to answer the question as to the thrust washer...was it in the/with...

    Outboard loud when pulling

Probably because you are going slower, the sound waves aren't blown away like when going faster. Also, you probably are paying a lot more attention to what's behind you so your ears are pointed in the direction of the sound more often.

    Top Speed Issues

Might have a new fuel filter handy and when replaced, cut the old one open and tell us what you found. Too much water and too much water accumulating additive can become a problem. BTDT The additive attaches itself to the water and forms a cloudy "blob" that can make its way into your fuel...

    porpoising problem

You already have a thread open and active on this subject. Adding this one is confusing. Why?

    Pretty overpropped.

Top speed and RPMs are measurements of your boat's performance. Nothing says you have to dwell there once you get it setup.

New prop floats on prop shaft and has some play

I agree. You have slop both in the lateral (when you grab a blade tip) and longitude (when you push it back and forth) and shouldn't have either. Do not run the engine like that! Any numbers on the prop...either end or on the barrel? If you could identify the prop it would help. Your...

    Pretty overpropped.

I assume your gear ratio is 2.33 or thereabout. Iboats does list a 14x13 for that engine: http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/Suzuki-Outboard-Propellers/?pitch=13.00&chart=63&engine_id=362&cart_id=316434620 You didn't give your speed at 4000 RPM. Hard to answer without that piece of...

    porpoising problem

Interesting problem! Normally porpoising is having the trim too far out for the current speed. Example would be you did you hole shot with your trim centered. Boat gets on plane but doesn't have the feel that it's floating ON the water rather its IN the water. You nudge the trim out and the...

    Altitude Issues in Lake Tahoe?

A quick www check says about 3%/1000' assuming the engine was rated at sea level when rated. Otherwise subtract your original altitude and performance there and proceed with your 3% loss. BruceB58 is a long time poster on here and has spent a lot of time on that lake. Ping him.

1994 Mariner 60 Hp and Faria Tach Failing after 3/4 throttle

What is the indicated RPM at 3/4 throttle....>7k? Your actual RPM is around 3800-4k. A 2:1 difference in the setting could make it peg..if wrong in the wrong direction. I am currently running a new Farina I bought a year ago and it has no problem with my engine...but it doesn't run 7k.

    Wayyyy over propped???

I would looked up your boat and as close as I could come was a 252, 25' Fisherman CC with a 150. Looking at the wetted surface such that the wake crosses the chine at the transom tells me the 150 is having no problem driving that hull. With that said I would imagine the 115 would have no...

    Low RPM at WOT

Co worker had a deep V, closed bow, SR 18' 165 I6 I/O back in the late '60s. I had it to 45 with 3 aboard while he was getting the trailer. At first he was mad at me for making a run while he was getting the trailer but later apologized and thanked me for letting him see his boat perform. The...

    Loaded pontoon cavitation

Hydraulic jack plate would be nice. You could set the height as a function of load as you go....butttt $$$. Manual jack plate would be fixed and for the engine to be set right for full loaded conditions, your top end would/should drop a blt due to the extra drag. If above 5500 on most engines...

Is this a MERCURY Mercury, or a Force Mercury?

And the cowl looks exactly like the 2002 Merc 90 2 stroker I had...just different decals and paint was high gloss, Phantom Black...not sure if your paint is faded or grey.....I don't see it shining so maybe faded Phantom Black.

    Fuel Line Drained the tank

If you had a hole in the fuel line between the fuel pump in the engine and the tank, your engine wouldn't run or would labor because the fuel pump sucks whatever is in the line...if the line has a hole in it or a mis fitting connector, or a clamp loose enough to let air in the pump...

Hey Fellas,What type of Props do Force outboards use

Hub is unique to the installation in a given prop diameter range. The difference is the number of teeth on the spline. Somewhere is a standard that specifies the barrel dimension on a certain range diameters...like 13-14" diameter use a 4 1/4 housing so the prop barrel (to which the blades...

    Loaded pontoon cavitation

That's a good point. Not that the toon is overloaded causing the condition, it's how it's loaded.....Thinking about it, the lounges are midship and forward.....so the passengers do what you said when using the lounge seats. Edit: You know it's amazing the difference in sitting in front of...

Broken skeg and play in prop shaft.

The in and out may just be the overrun clutch. You said broken metal at the propeller base but did not say propeller had broken metal. With that I am assuming the skeg took the hit and the prop survived...since it was probably up in the air as compared to the tip of the skeg. Put the shifter...
