2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

3 for 3 today on 'System OK' today. . . , but I don't want to jinks it  I think the accessory battery likes the help of the Inverter battery bank, and that is also helpful doing the sandbar thing with tunes going, etc. My next challenge is getting the Joystick calibration sort out. I...

    Gimble bearing question

VP does not make bearings, so the SKF is what they used. Although I'm surprised a bit that it is not a Timken brand bearing. It could be a bum bearing if it feels rough. I also find that the pre-greased bearings are not all that much greased. Not sure there is a way to add grease to them though.

Preferred method to fog a Cat equipped engine?

My Mercruiser Manual (6.2L ECT (CATS)) states to use the 10% 2-cycle mix. So, it must not be all that bad . . . . . . One thing I did notice is that the ECT engine do not like to run out of fuel. I usually empty the fuel tank and then add 5 gallons of the 'mix' back into the tank.

    Hole shot, Mercruiser 4.3L

You can try a bunch of different props, but you probably want to stick with the one that matches your needs the best. Keep in mind that a prop that gets you the best top speed may not be very good for water sports. I'd try the 4 blade . . . maybe even a 'HighFive' if you can find one. But...

1998 EBBTIDE Mystique 2300 open bow seats

Greetings, Not sure if you have this figured out, since it has been a few days . . . Seat backs are often held by 'Z' brackets and a 'tie-down' strap. If you can post pictures of some of the key areas you mention, that may help with responses

    Torque Roll?

Hello @harringtondav Extra weight (on port side) or trim tabs are about your best approaches. What is the pitch of the prop and are you reaching your specified RPM's at WOT? SX outdrive is single prop (right?)

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

I still frequent the Formula 330 SS group on FB. Yesterday there was a post about the same type of warning I've been getting (Critical Low Voltage - return to port for more beer) (oh, I made that last part up :ROFLMAO: ). Anyway, the person found that the 'Acc' (i.e. Accessory) breaker had...

    Recovering Boat Seats

$3-6K are not actually bad prices. . . . maybe $6K is a little high. Upholstery work is quite labor intensive, so usually materials are about 15% of the cost. You mentioned spending $300, so it would equate to about $4,500 done by a shop. I try to use the best materials, since the labor is...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

3 out of 4 'System OK' today. . . So things are working themselves out (somehow). Still some work to go.

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Alright . . . Not sure how to score this one. Voltage warning came up upon starting the Starboard engine. Then after a minute changed to OK. Maybe 50/50 ?

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Since I ‘exercised’ the clean power CB, the voltage has been better. Maybe not perfect, but better. I did find the clean power connection on the engine and it appears to lead back to the starboard power panel. I will need to unbutton a bunch of tywraps to trace it out for sure. I think I...

    Solar Power Installation . . .

Quick update . . . Some spillover of this project/thread into my thread on the Mercruiser Low voltage issue (an on-going saga) I have decided to get another FET battery isolator to 'properly' isolate the accessory (house) battery, as opposed to the diode band-aid. That way I know that the...

    Boat ladder

Often there is a space beneathe the swim deck that can be accessed from inside the engine compartment. Perhaps you could access the underside where the swim ladder attached and do through bolts (as they should be done). Adhesives won't hold . . . too much force on the attachment points.

How to determine if a shaft length is right for your transom?

15" . . . no such thing as 16" The exact measurements are going to be a bit off from the 5" increments of transom height. A short shaft motor might vary slightly above the 15", but as you saw your 20" shaft was around 22-23" with the tape measure.

How to determine if a shaft length is right for your transom?

It may not be a total loss. There is a market for long shaft OB's . . . trolling motors and smaller sailboats tend to need the longer shaft motors. So, you could sell and then buy what you need. "Standard" shaft lengths (transom height) are increments of 5" . . . 15", 20", 25", and even 30"...

    Recovering Boat Seats

I've done the seating in the 3 power boats that I've owned. If you have experience using a sewing machine it certainly helps. There are lots of folks who do this for a living or a side job. I did my first boat using the Admiral's home machine . . . pretty much a nightmare, but I struggled...

    Risers getting very hot

It would be best to . . . Get an IR temperature 'gun' (they are about $30) Record temperature of riser tops at idle Record temperature of riser tops at a fast idle (800 RPM +/-) Post a picture of your engine. Is the engine temperature in a 'normal' range while cruising?
