New boat owners leaving the hobby

yes....and it seems the majority of the boats sit at the slips all season, never even taken out. The manager related this personally to me as he noted I used mine frequently last year. It was my first year, so there's that. I know the marina's pool is always busy.

New boat owners leaving the hobby

I'm into my second year at a marina on the chesapeake. Prior was on the Susquehanna river, bow rider late 90's/2000.....pontoon 2016 to present. Just received a blanket email from the marina manager stating they have a number of empty slips and basically asking current members to spread the...

    Considering prop change. Seeking input.

you are 1000 rpm's below your max operating rpm range. Worrying about your supposed speed from "internet" opinions are the least of your concern. Either you are way over-propped and lugging your motor, or your motor has a problem. If the motor is healthy, then your looking at a 3-4 inch pitch...

    Adding third toon

"I looked at adding a 3rd toon from a company that sells the pre-formed, sectioned 3rd toon kit. I asked if this third toon could cause an improper prop alignment. The answer was, well, it might. Which if it did, would have led me to the rabbit hole of transom jacks, maybe reinforcement, etc."...

    Grill on Pontoon

I saw that style but the grill mounts didn't appear to match my grill's bolt spacing. Real convenient.

    Adding third toon

I'd think so...and there might be a simple solution, maybe not. These are things that aren't thought about, until the "oh crap" moment. That's why I say talk to someone who knows what is involved. I looked at adding a 3rd toon from a company that sells the pre-formed, sectioned 3rd toon kit. I...

    Adding third toon

that middle piece is usually called the motor pod. On my pontoon it is all part of the transom, all one piece welded aluminum, bolted to the crossmembers. You need to find a trustworthy knowledgable person/place that understands the dynamics of adding a 3rd toon. Will that toon have the transom...

    17 vs 19 vs 21 Pitch?

I don't see a 10 mph increase.....maybe 5. Props aren't magical . They're for fine tuning. The #'s you see are for the same boat, load , and conditions. Props were new Merc. 3-16x13 and a 3-16x12. You can see the 12 pitch hit 22.5 mph@6000. I could hit 6100+ rpm which could get me 23+ mph but...

Sad Day For the SS United States

according to all the articles I've read about re-purposing the ship over decades, all of those avenues had been exhausted. A museum, a refit, a shopping "plaza", a restored exterior display with historical status. the universal conclusion was too much money. The objectionists always only offer...
