Wood species and type for stringers

But people don't understand the concept of add'l glass over dimensional lumber. They just go "This looks good, 2 laminates will do." "Oh my the bubbles" I agree 100 with your suggestion. The other issue is the dimensional woods available seem to gas off alot. I've used them and they are a pia...

Repair balsa core from inside boat

I would fill the voids with PB, 1/4" cut glass and cabosil as my mix. Make the pb thick so whereas you can hold the mix upside down and it doesn't drop out of the container. Then its time to go to work. The cut glass is the strength. Pb is no strength except for as a glue. I would also use...

Epoxy for "over drill and fill" for exterior screws

Yea just dinkin... The best way is to also have a glassed wood pad on the base of your hole to @1.5". Then drill that oversized hole and fill with pb. You do not want to screw into the hull at all. Make the edges of the pad on 45 deg. angles so glass lays easy.

Epoxy for "over drill and fill" for exterior screws

Yup that will work. So to make the job easier and faster you can predrill the holes then set your screws/dip with 5200. For the penetration of the transducer I would over drill and fill with the pb like you said. Add'l if the hole is overdrilled like you said then your screws may end up in the...
