    The cap & rotor are an easy tune up for less than $100. I buy NAPA ECH RR207 cap $65 and ECH RR256 rotor $20. Requires torx bits T15 and T20. Easy job. Just don't get the plug wires screwed up.

    Inspect both trim puck wires closely and consider replacing both. They're not that pricey. I made the mistake of not doing this when my bellows were replaced and now I'm nursing them through with liquid electrical tape

    Hard to exactly tell but looks like a strange install. It looks like the gas spring is mounted on a sponson that protrudes outward. The spring should be mounted on the same plane as the tab. Maybe it could work with the right planning.

    No. The only thing I can think of is, I did some work on my controller over the winter while the shift plate was removed that involved moving the shifter. It may be possible operating it like this pushed something out of kilter
