    Shifting rod linkage getting stuck on transmission part can’t get out of forward

    Turn the brass connector 1/4 of a turn so the flat side is facing towards the impeller housing and so it not hit the casting when shifting gear. The screw should go through the connector in the shift rod grove and be tight so the connector do not turn.

    Is it back fire or sneezing? Generally setting for the air/fuel mixture screw is 1 1/4 turn out from seated. It should run with this setting but it can be set in a range of 1- 2,5 turn out. Most Chryslers will run desent with the screw set 1-1,5 turn out from seated.

    Do you have spark at both plugs? Does the spark jump 3/8 in or more with a spark tester? Back fire sounds like the HT wires are connected to wrong plug or the flywheel key is shared.

    Check if you have an air leakage around the carbs mounting to the crank case (intake manifold) or at transfer passage cover.

    Force 120 or 125?

    Just want to correct jerry at the spec. of the engines. The 125Hp had 3,312 in bore, the 120Hp had 3.375 in bore. Except for the 1990 120Hp A model which had 3.312 in bore. The stroke was the same of both.

    1978 Evinrude 70HP- Trouble starting/idling/bogging under load

    Check fuel pump diaphragm. If bad, fuel will enter the crank case direct from the fuel pump not going through the carbs.
