    Trailblazer for Tow Vehicle?

My dad launched a StarCraft Offshore V-18 with a 2008 Hyundai Elantra. Once, because his jeep was in the shop and it’s a couple miles to the launch

    3.0 Mercruiser

Hook up an external fuel tank and see if it’ll run. My parts boat quit on the previous owner and he thought it needed a fuel pump. It would run out of fuel after a short while. I hooked it up to my portable tank, and it fired up and ran great. I looked into the fuel situation quickly as it’s...

    Trailblazer for Tow Vehicle?

They use 4L60E transmissions. Good enough for towing but only with a trans cooler imo.

    Trailblazer for Tow Vehicle?

I used to work on them all the time. W/ the Atlas engine.. they were usually roached out at the point I got to them. ( 2013-2015 ). TBSS will scoot as it’s an LS2 if memory serves me. But the V8 TB’s have the front CV running through the oil pan. Not something I would want.

How do I rate hp size of outboard with the new pod installation

They did put 4.3L in them. The 3.0l was base model. 180hp would be about right. You could do with 150

Looking for pump to drain oil through dipstick tube

pumps are fine. I was proven they worked once by pumping a car out. Then filling it up with junk mixed grade leftovers, draining that and, no sludge… I’m not saying a pump is my preferred method, as I’m a drain person.. but it does work. A basic $6 harbor freight pump will work well enough...

    MR outdrive

I would try a little heat and something like a very small punch. I was very mad when I saw what the previous owner did to mine trying to get it apart. But when I got a replacement. I was sure to get an Alpha Gen one so that I got threaded pins

Who did you use to have a plexiglass windshield made?

Dont discount your local glass shop ( NOT Safelite ) Many of them will do plexi/ Lexan fabrication. UDP is probably the most well known for mail order

Fuel injected parts no longer available

I know a mechanic that can refurbish ECUs on the bench. But he’s not an average mechanic. He switched from TV/ radio repair in his early years to mechanics and is good at anything he does. Anyway. Anything marine spec EFI for a Ford is NLA. The biggest issue is the Ford EEC ECUs have issues...

    MR outdrive

Don’t drill them out. On my big boat, the previous owner tried drilling them and destroyed the housing. didn’t realize it until I was putting it back together. I bought the boat with disassembled gimbal.

    Looking at 8hp and 15hp 4stroke Merc

Yes, my dad uses the main engine as a rudder on his boat. But currents will require him to turn the kicker from time to time to get more control ( turned slightly opposite of the current ). That would drive me nuts. I’m glad that my 25hp will troll just fine on my boat, and steering is steering

    Eska won’t start.

That is a Techumseh 2 stroke that was originally manufactured by Power Products, a smaller company that Tech acquired.. at one time Tech was using their SSI ignitions on them, which is a special unit because it uses both a trigger and a charge coil, unlike a Briggs and Stratton that put a...

Just bought a Winner Wildcat 1972

The only way to really test the transom is to drill test holes with a 1/4” bit and check for dry shavings. A boat that old with a rotten floor isn’t going to pass the test. Be prepared for the worst

What rifle to scope for hunting?

But you will be on a first name basis with the ATF to do so as well. I was going to get a C&R ( FFL 03 ) but I don’t want to be that close. It doesn’t do much in NY anyway

Out to lunch Gear Oil Prices

i think you should consider looking up what you are saying… if you look at the safety data sheets for pretty much anything. You will find exactly what they are made of.. yes marine gear lube contains emulsifiers. And certainly there are different RTVs. Not only is that verifiable, but there are...

Out to lunch Gear Oil Prices

Well. Walmart in the USA sells their supertech gear oil in both marine and regular 80w90. The price is not much different but they are different products. Is a few cents worth the chance to me? Nah..For sure regular gear oil will mix with water. That much I know from experience. But I haven’t...

Out to lunch Gear Oil Prices

I spent nearly $6000 on my brand new Suzuki DF25A. It needs a gear lube change once per year.. $60 isn’t going to break the bank. I put regular gear oil in a ‘66 Super Seahorse 40 when I knew it leaked, and changed it every time it went in the barrel

    Tire Recommendation, Japanese Sedan

I wouldn’t go with the Lexani or Forceum tires… go for an Otani cheapie, as they are actually pretty good. Toyo offers a great value right now, and Kumho can but only with their higher end TA11. Kumho Exceta and the others are garbage.
