    1978 SS 16 restoration

I would set the seat in and try your idea of steering wheel location before committing to anything. I picked up a 16ft to repair and my legs hardly fit around the console with the stock design. I spend lots of quality time sitting in my 18ft Holiday planning where to mount things and still...

    Starcraft Holiday 18 make over

It's the biggest one landed on the boat since I have owned it. We were both very excited. He will remember this day 🐋

    1978 SS 16 restoration

It would be strange to see a crack from only one side. Hard to say from the picture but from here it looks like a scratch. If so not likely to be a problem. Don't think I have owned a boat without a dent, scrape or scratch somewhere 🤔

I cut aluminum with all kinds of woodworking tools. Jig saw, circular saw, bandsaw and even oscillating saws when no other saw will work. WD 40 makes a good lube for cutting aluminum. It keeps the cutting teeth from loading up.

    Starcraft Holiday 18 make over

If anyone is interested in side scanning sonars I have a neat picture of the hmcs Saguenay resting on the bottom waiting for divers to explore. Scuttled in 1994 of Lunenburg N.S. for a dive park. Very happy with the Garmin Echo map. Also got a look at the Bluenose raising her sails.

    Delta Dawn- ‘72 Chieftain

Welcome. Regarding your trailer questions. Tandem trailers bounce less and tow smoother. They are easier on the boat hull in my opinion. I used 3500lbs axles because they are common even though they were over kill. I do run my tire pressure a bit lower then maximum trying for the best ride...

    New (to me) boat owner

Nice looking. A water pump might be a good idea if you don't know when it was last changed.

Epoxy products should be used after riveting and metal work. Seams are the best applications for them. 3m 5200 for everything else

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

Wood rots and isn't used in modern boats in that application. Aluminum also makes a nice washer. Aluminum can be cut/drilled with most wood working tools. It's your boat so you can do as you wish.

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

If you're asking about the wood between the motor to transom I prefer to replace it with 3/16" or thicker 5052 aluminum plate. Butter with 3M 5200 before installing. No reason to use wood

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

I use 3M 5200 on all below water line hardware so I can't comment on the others but it is definitely not permanent. It's harder than silicone to remove but engine mounting bolts through the transom come out with little force after a quick spin of the impact gun.

    1974 Starcraft 21’ Holiday

Oops that was the last post, the transom stuff is in the beginning of the thread. As you will see I'm not a fan of sandwiching new aluminum over old corroded transoms. It is a perfect spot for more corrosion to continue.
