    CD boxes and coils

Nordin has it backwards, the black is the newer blue is the older. The difference is the black is the "Improved" model. Your not supposed to mix the colors but they seem to work if you do. The only difference I saw is the connectors are different.

50 hp force questions after recent test run

The foam probably won't get past the reeds. It would just lump up and cause poor running.

    Waterpump repair help

Always helps to take pics as you work. That o-ring might not be needed??? In the parts diagram for the 120 it doesn't show it's there. Mercury style pumps need it, Force doesn't. Was it there before? Post a pic of the top of the pump. Won't hurt anything if it's there.

    85 hp compression

Setting for some time shouldn't really affect the comp readings. Get a Snap On or Mac tool comp tester and try again.

1990 Trophy twin Force 120s prop question

Sneezing at startup?? That could be the motor is sucking air and needs repaired. Do the Starting Fluid Test: start the motor, spray SF around the intake side of the motor and see if the spray makes it run different. Spray under the coils, packs and below the carbs. The port covers have a slim...

Ideal cylinder head temp range force 50 hp

Just modify the setup you have? Include a car/ motorcycle horn in the system. Once the temp gets hot the horn sounds off instead of the tiny buzzer already in the system.

    85 hp compression

Does it start? My twin 1988/85's had 145# when new. When I sold them almost 30 years later they still had 145# IF??? it's running?? run it. You can try adding a bit of oil in the cyl. and if that raises the # then the rings might need replaced???

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

The air screw is for the air fuel mix at idle or close to idle. Past 2000 the main jet takes over. Try cleaning the carb and make sure all passages are open. While the carbs are off: look in at the reeds and make sure they are closed or close to being closed. A small gap is acceptable.

    85 hp compression

120 is acceptable as long as it's on all 3. What kind of tester? How many revs to take the reading? As many as 10 for the right results. Harbor Freight gauges give bad results.

    hydraulic steering swap

I'd contact Vevor and ask about fitment?? Hyd. steering is a great addition to any boat, however it can mask a problem with the motor locking up and being hard to turn. 99% who own a boat don't have a grease gun or know how to use one. Hyd. steering will MAKE the motor turn because of the...

1988 50 hp force no spark?

The original is a 6 wire. It worked on all the bigger Force's 50 up to 150 The 4 wire is an aftermarket , probably CDI. The Force motors came with a wiring diagram on the motor(unless someone removed it??) The color code changed and made it confusing.

    Force 120 compatability

Yes that might be possible. I've not done it myself. The things like the water pickup would need to be fit.

    Force 120 compatability

The drive came in 20 and 25 " The older models came in a 2 piece configuration. The shaft on these is a one piece. The parts can interchange if you have the service manual and some tools.
