1990 Trophy twin Force 120s prop question

People made the assumption that a 4 blade will be an upgrade and get better performance. They get better performance if your pulling 3-4 skiers and don't plan on ever going fast again. Great holeshot.

1990 Trophy twin Force 120s prop question

Had a 21 with twin 85's and 17p props. It would get it up on plane (1 motor) if it wasn't too loaded. Your boat actually came standard with a single 125. The twins was a more expensive model.

Force 50 hp outboard won't start

Those muffs need to be taped in place. Duct tape won't stick to a wet drive, put it on when the lower is dry. Was at work and running a new motor test. Things going good then I notice no water in the exhaust. The yard guy unhooked the first part of my hose and hooked another so he could wash a...

1990 Trophy twin Force 120s prop question

The 4 blade is it stainless? The weight difference between stainless and aluminum can be 15# That make the motor turn slower. Yes add a 4th blade it increases the weight and drops the rpm's. All 125 hp should run about 52-5400 rpm's. The boat weight and load and how you run the boat will make a...

85hp 3 cylinder Force carburetor throttle plates.

Idle: the butterflies all need to be closed. At wide open if they're not all even it doesn't really mater.

1990 Trophy twin Force 120s prop question

Maybe add a description of the boat?? 90 Trophy came with a few different style boats. The problem is the props are the wrong ones. They came with 13 1/2 X 17/19p 3 blade. Like I explained the props are the wrong ones. Your motors should run 53-5500 rpm. 4400 is too low. I had a pair of 88/85...

Force 125 Trim Motor working, but I think it should go higher

The motor might need some fluid. The 125 used a Prestolite pump. The bottom half is the reservoir the top half is the electric motor. The reservoir is filled when the motor is in the down position. Remove the fill plug and add 30w motor oil until it runs out the hole. Filling it while up can...

    1987 Force 125 tower shaft linkage frozen/seized

Easy out(Topgun) the plug is small and you might have to drill through it to install the tool. Once the tool is installed, use a propane torch to heat the boss around the plug. That should make it easier to come out.

85hp 3 cylinder Force carburetor throttle plates.

At wide open they don't have to be flat. Just at idle.

    Not sure if something broke

It's a Force, possibly an L drive?? Find the parts diagram for your motor. Always include the model, year and serial# if possible.

Won’t stay running 125 force pestoline

The reeds are behind the carbs. Remove the carbs and inspect the reeds. A reed is like a clarinets reed that vibrates to make the noise. They allow fuel in but block the fuel so it won't come out. Damaged or missing reeds let fuel come back out the front and can make it backfire. A backfire can...

    Bolt size

They are probably 1/4-20 or the next size bigger. The 1/4-20 can pull out and destroy the hole, be careful.

Sounds like the starting fluid test might have found the problem?

    1987 Force 125 tower shaft linkage frozen/seized

The drain plug on the bottom of the drive could be an allen head set screw??? IT'S VERY EASY TO STRIP!!! Hard to find sometimes. If it doesn't come easy? you can use a propane torch and heat the area around the plug. The heat won't hurt any thing unless you really get it hot (not likely) If it's...

1989 Force 50 won’t idle after engine warms up

Do the starting fluid test: start the motor, spray SF around the intake side of the engine. If that makes the motor run different?? Then it's sucking air and needs to figure out where? You have 2 port covers on the intake side. One has the fuel pump the other nothing. Most time the port caver...

    1987 Force 125 tower shaft linkage frozen/seized

I've never ran across frozen towershaft linkage. Keep taking it apart and see if you can find the problem. Do a compression test and check the lower unit for water.
