    Trailer lights troubleshooting help

Are you sure your truck fuses are fine? Cause from your description a fuse blew if the entire trailer went dark. IF I didn't know better, your trailer wiring probably had a short in it somewhere. Toyota mechanic is still baffled I blew a 30A fuse in the Tundra when my trailer shorted. Lost all...

1972 Starcraft Arrow closed bow conversion

Having had a 15' closed bow, might I offer the following... I don't think there's as much space as you think there is once you start cutting. These boats are awfully narrow so I'm not sure you're going to be happy with the additions you're looking to add up front. There simply isn't enough...

    Transom Leak Help

So inquiring minds...when you reassemble it and it still leaks, because no where in that diatribe did I see that you're planning on fixing the indent, what's your next step? Slather some sillycone on the housing and call it done? And when that fails? If it were me, and I saw that mess, I'd fix...

Any lasting proven method of painting a prop ??

I had my prop repaired on the FourWinns by a prop shop. They touched up the paint where their repair work was done. First time out it was gone. In all seriousness, only the fish will see that paint is worn off your prop and they really couldn't care, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Bayliner Capri 2150 resurrection.

I'm wondering if the bunks weren't originally 4x4 posts that someone replaced with standard 2x4 because it was cheaper?? That'd be a really easy way to gain some clearance between the keel and the axles by going back to 4x4 posts for bunks. Then again...the springs could just need replacement...

1968 Slickcraft 19 foot Just Purchased!

You're located in Washington correct? **Going off the plate and reg on the side of the boat. Froze over winter right? Did you winterize before it got below freezing??

    Tach trouble shooting

In that last pic, where all the wires kinda come together, there's (2) blues and a red joined in what appears to be some sort of shrinkwrapped barrel connector. It looks like a very wonky solder joint is there. Same goes for the barrel connector behind it. IF it were me, I'd start by getting...

1988 Lowe 14v transome cap question

I'm wagering your transom goes all the way down to the hull (floor) and is sandwiched between your inner and outer transom skins. So that means, no matter which way you slice it, some solid rivets are coming out as it looks like there's a few through on either side. **In the pic with the angle...

1988 Lowe 14v transome cap question

With the limited photos, it almost looks like you pull a few bolts and it'll slide out from the bottom. Reinsert replacement by putting top in first and then sliding bottom into place??? A photo further back might support this theory.

    Hey Newbies

I'd have to respond a touch differently... I had a Force 120 HP on my '99 Bayliner. Damn thing wouldn't start, just like you described. I fixed the problem by trading that motor in on a '00 115HP Honda. Worked great after that. Only cost me $10k at the time :)

    Transom Leak Help

OK...let's go at it a bit differently shall we? You smacked bottom with the boat which caused your outdrive seal to pop. What caused the seal to pop was that the drive was driven into your fiberglass and with little/no wooden support behind it, it cracked the glass. See the indent from the...

    1978 Chrysler floor help?

Umm....I hate to break it to you but.... 1. It won't ever dry out so it will continue rotting to mulch and 2. Needs to be replaced. It's the equivalent of trying to run the Boston Marathon with a broken leg. If your floor is shot, the stringers along with the transom rotted well before. The...

    1978 Chrysler floor help?

Only the floor? From looks of things you should really check the transom and stringers. That's what Scott has been alluding to all along...and where a grinder will become a necessity.

Mirrocraft 1628 holiday vs Legend All sports 15

Total WAG...maybe in the 30's? Light boat but light on HP. Going to depend alot on how much stuff you bring along for a day. As for a ladder....get one that hangs over the side. Store it when not in use. Easy, peasy. My uncle does that on his Sylvan.

Mirrocraft 1628 holiday vs Legend All sports 15

You're comparing apples and oranges... The Legend boat is a complete package at 1420 (probably wrong and actually lower than actual weight). So subtract off the trailer which is probably in the 5-700lb range and that will get you an estimated package weight of around 700-900lbs - boat & motor...

'86 Chris Craft 210 with Alpha one rot repair?

If the transom is gone, likely are the stringers. Which I why I mentioned the marina should do some more digging as the stringers are the spine/backbone of the boat. Hit a wave wrong, and you could be visiting Davey Jone's Locker if you get my drift. Continuing to use the boat as is poses a...
