    Rewire Electrical

    1. Most times this is accurate unless you're running a thumping sound system and amp then you might be looking at a battery bank. Assuming your outboard is large enough it probably has a charging circuit. 2. Yes your trolling motor should be run off the deep cycle batteries. 3. Grounding is done...

    Hey Newbies

Ok....but consider the following mythical person and boat... We'll call him "Bob" cause why not? Bob goes out and buys a new to him boat and trailer combo. For arguements sake, say its a '98 Glastron with a 90HP Force Outboard with a matching Glastron trailer. Bob takes his family out for a day...

    Electric Cars or Trucks

Here's another cross country. Had to stop every 100 miles roughly to charge.

    Electric Cars or Trucks

That range drops when you tow....dramatically. See the vid on the Rivian. On my typical vacation trip I'd need to stop 2x to charge....adding easily 2 hours onto an already 4 hour trip. My kids would go bonkers waiting to get to the lake.

1988 Wellcraft classic 200xl small leak at the bottom on transom plate

In that last pic....is that water or ice? Honestly I can't tell. Regardless, that looks like much more than a "small" leak. At a bare minimum....I'd look at pulling the drive off to see how bad this really is. If its just a gasket, would be easy enough to fix the right way as opposed to gooping...

    Electric Cars or Trucks

I'm curious...where do you charge it when it's drained to 0 pulling a boat? Gonna call out the Amish with their horses and buggies to pull you to the next charging station? And where exactly is that in the middle of no where? There's nothing wrong per se in trying to move away from gasoline...

    Boat won’t start

Overheat? When's the last time you did the impeller?

    Boat won’t start

You were exactly (1) power outage away from a cracked block. **This assumes you do not have a whole house generator. Did you get lucky?? Oil change will tell the story if it gets milky again. As for starting it...got your safety lanyard in place?

    Miserable Midwest Spring

Mowed Sunday. Might snow tonight/tomorrow. Go figure. Boat is still shrink wrapped - was planning on opening it this weekend originally. Might be off a couple weeks yet.

Correct sizing of trailer to boat?

Looks like the boat is properly supported by the trailer. What would concern me is the distance from the winch post to my tailgate or hatch. I'm sure the camera is playing tricks and its not as bad as it appears but to me, if that was my rig, I'd be seriously looking at adding to the tongue...

    Launching/retrieving with FWD

If you're doing any/all of this....1. You're a youtube star as someone somewhere got video and posted it and... 2. You need a more capable vehicle. Use the AWD SUV and move on in life. Or upgrade your FWD to a newer AWD that has the tow capacity you need.

    Bowriders that handle waves well?

2-3' can be done in my current boat. It ain't pretty and it ain't quick in any regards. More than likely the front passengers ARE getting soaked. Not something I would want to do with any regularity. I think you're looking at a much larger boat...say in the 23-25' class.

Keeping boat interior (carpeting / fabric) "nice"

Snap in light colored carpet on my Chap and Four Winns. Got dirty...take it out, lay it in the driveway, scrub, dry, reinstall. Easy Peasy. No need to over think this.

Glastron GT 185 —replacing a radio unit and depth finder advice.

    1. This is the 2-3" round gauge on your dash that allows you to set a shallow alarm correct? If so, look at the back of the unit for a manufacturer. You might just be able to replace the unit with the same manufacturer keeping all the wiring. That would be a few bolts and unplugging/replugging...

What tools needed to check over an old project bass boat before buying?

IF you have wonky wiring already, best guess is....who the heck knows. You're asking about a boat that's almost 50 years old and probably had a few owners. **You're looking at a boat that's been "Bubba'd". As in...."Bubba, I got this, hold my beer!" Replace the wiring as mentioned above, it...

    Mercury 9.9 4 stroke

Here let's attack it this way...(and see if I got it right in the process)... Prop 1...original prop that was installed on motor. Removed with no issues and set aside. Correct? Prop 2...spare prop that won't seat onto your motor correct? Then after seeing Prop 2 won't go onto the motor you...

What tools needed to check over an old project bass boat before buying?

I highly doubt the seller is going to let you drill into their boat before you buy it. So this is going to be an eyeball test....open hatches, compartments, etc. Review the boat buying sticky if you haven't already...

    Terry bass boat

I *think* I see a steering wheel near the trolling motor. I say *think* as there is a bunch of clutter in the way. Can't tell squat from the rear facing shot as the spare tire is in the way. How about clearing all the excess *stuff* from the boat and take some new pics??

Is 17ft long enough for a tournament bass boat?

It sounds like you've already made your decision then. Good luck with your purchase and fishing.

Is 17ft long enough for a tournament bass boat?

Most pro's boats I've seen up close have been 20+ feet in length and generally have a 200-250+ HP motor hanging off the back. Most will have 2 power poles as well. Could the smaller boat with less power work for you? Maybe...if you're not particularly interested in placing because those larger...
