    Neighbor that hasn't returned tools

Ohh I've been there so I understand completely. My wife loaned out an infant life jacket to a family friend for the day 2 years ago. I still haven't gotten it back because....instead of being an adult, the family friend returned the life jacket to her mommy instead and expected us to retrieve...

    Neighbor that hasn't returned tools

Ohh heck I'd just text him and wifey - "Keep the tools you borrowed, don't bother asking me again for anything". Don't rely on the friends or family plan to get your stuff back, go direct. Then block the numbers and buy some new bits/tools.

    1984 Glasstream Hydrabass 17ft

Well since you're set on taking a chance on it, may I offer the following... Launch the boat and use it for an hour or two. Retrieve the boat and wipe it down with a towel so its dry on the outside near that puncture. It's at the bow right? If so, tip the trailer down so the bow is lower than...

1988 searay Seville cuddy cabin. Is it a good boat?

Half rotten transom. Rotten floor. Rotten motor mount. How about the stringers as I didn't see you tested them? FWIW...I wager you already know what you're going to find. I wouldn't operate the boat as it sits. It'd be the equivalent of moving a baby grand piano onto a termite infested floor...

Tracking down and repairing leak in aluminum hull (starcraft islander)

IF it were me, I'd dunk the boat and open the engine hatch. Can leave it sitting on your trailer on a non-busy day. Check to see if water is coming in. Then start the motor and check again. Assuming you have an I/O given the length correct? If so, when were the bellows last done??? Given the...

1988 searay Seville cuddy cabin. Is it a good boat?

Whether its a project you want to keep/take on OR look to offload is your call. Should you follow through on bringing back the boat, there are countless others that have started in the resto forum with "It has just one soft spot on the floor" which turned into a full on demo/rebuild. The folks...

    Stereo Upgrade

Before the pandemic, I was looking at a Rockford Fosgate unit as it fits in the same opening as the Jensen. Easier controls from what I could tell. Haven't gone past the research phase since my kiddos are getting into fishing (finally) and booming bass/loud music isn't conducive to that activity.

    Faria tachometer?

With key on, try tapping the face of the gauge with your finger. The one in my Four Winns got "sticky" and this would "wake" it up.

    New Boat For Christmas

Looking good. Jealous you can splash as I'm still a few weeks away - snow in the forecast for me.

17’1” Double Eagle (1991) wiring downriggers

You need either a circuit breaker or fuse in line for each down rigger. Otherwise, you get a short and you'll have an instant onboard toaster...where you probably don't want it.

    Sylvan 17 SSO

Your largest maintenance item is the motor so grab the shop manual for your particular engine. You need year, manufacturer, and typically HP rating. As for the boat itself...you probably won't find a parts manual for it as Sylvan used parts that were off the shelf from other manufacturers. For...

Found a 2000 16' Fisher Avenger WT in really top condition

That's a fairly low tow rating. You're basically looking at an aluminum tiller boat with bench seats once you factor in all the extras. Nothing wrong with that per se as some of my fondest memories are on my Uncle's 16' Starcraft with a 9.9HP Evinrude hung on the back. Bench seats and all...

'86 Chris Craft 210 with Alpha one rot repair?

IF, mighty big IF, the shop is worth it's salt and actually gives a darn about its reputation (and doesn't instead try to get it out the door as quick as possible) then it should be better than new. I'd request they do some more exploring to confirm that's where the rot is contained to...it...

    Hey Newbies

Hey noobs... That trailerable boat you just bought that has a dry weight under your tow rating. Ya forgot a key weight...the trailer its riding on. It weighs something other than 0 lbs. How bout that gas, battery(ies), anchor, etc. All that "stuff adds weight". Still under that max tow rating...

    TAHOE BOATS

In the Tahoe line the Q series typically denotes the length of the boat. Higher the number, bigger the boat. That's the most obvious. There may be seating arrangements, motors, feature differences as well. You'd need to dig into the models to be more specific.

Found a 2000 16' Fisher Avenger WT in really top condition

So boat and motor dry is about 1k. What's the trailer weigh? How about adding in all that "stuff" you carry - gas, (2) batteries, anchor(s), etc - all that weighs something....bet you're kissing 1500lbs (if not over) with all that "stuff". You might be wise to run the rig through a scale to see...

    $2500 boat

....maybe. Just remember prices are woefully out of whack right now due to pandemic and supply chain issues. That's hopefully only going to be temporary. So the best chance at the biggest payout, if any, is to cash in now....ie. flip the boat right away with a new engine while demand is still...

How Far Can an Electric Truck Tow?

Ev's have their place....depending on climate of the area you're going to be operating it in. BUT....all it takes is Mother Nature opening up a big old can of NOPE and that puts a wrench in the works...

    Hey Newbies

Hey noobs....boats have a capacity rating for a reason. Sure you can add that 50HP 4 stroke to a canoe once...just don't be surprised at the outcome. Ohh and take vids...we like vids!
