Need help IDing my first boat

The problem is weight. That 4 stroke you're eyeing up is a lot heavier than the 2 stroke it was originally designed for. It may very well make the boat sit too low in the water. I'd proceed with caution and look at the weights very closely before pulling the trigger. Won't get into the...

    Low Trailer- Steep Driveway Problem

What Scott's driving at is this... Say you are currently using a straight drawbar on your truck to hook up to your trailer. And that drawbar is causing the tongue of the trailer to sit high. That's going to tip your trailer down at the rear causing it to sit lower than it should which *could*...

Need help identifying this inboard boat - anyone can help?

No capacity plate or HIN/HID? That's some funky hardware bolted to that.

    Radio/speaker Upgrade

Depending on your existing head unit's age, features, etc, it's probably not much of a chore wiring wise to replace. You're realistically talking... Power: + and - (so 2 wires) Speakers: + and - for each speaker, so for a 2 speaker system (4) wires Antenna: plugs right in That's just a basic...

    Tahoe boat

Might just be the camera playing tricks BUT...that sunpad looks mighty wonky. Starting at the left, it seems to go up then out then back down. Mighty wonky if accurate. Other item that sticks out is that I see the snaps for the snap in carpet but no carpet. Where is it?? Manufacturers don't...

    Boat covers

Pretty sure mine is a Taylor Made cover, Sunbrella fabric - ordered a couple years back through Iboats. Includes strap kit. I added support poles as no matter how much you tighten down the straps, the fabric will stretch and you will end up with ponding without support poles in place. It's...

    I cannot find the right U bolts (1/2 x 4 x 3.5) anywhere

Got a heavy truck repair shop in your area? Or custom spring shop? Cause they can make them for you. My Dad had some made years ago for our trailer at a custom spring shop.

    Gel coat vendors??

I'd look up FriscoBoater on youtube...specifically his Glastron rebuild from start to finish. He has a vid in there going over how he matched the glitter job on that boat using gel coat. About 14 min in he goes over matching the existing glitter gel.

Is it worth replacing my transom here? (I have NEVER done fiber glass repair)

Sounds like it has some sentimental value so I would say go for it yourself. Start a thread in the resto section of the forums when you're ready to devote time and energy (and $$$$) to the process. Appears to be on the smaller side of boats so depending on what your skillset is/learning...

    Boat TLC questions

I fish with Mepps, Rapalas, 2-3" jigs, Senkos, etc. We'll agree to disagree on the carpeting as that's not something I've experienced at all. For me, old wives tale.

Poor draining in Optronics potted LED trailer lights?

Sounds like you got utility trailer lights instead of boat trailer lights. I'd agree with returning and getting properly sealed lights.

2022 Boating Season - help for first time boat buyers

Demand for boats right now is still nutso. I don't see that going down anytime soon for any of the above mentioned reasons - lack of labor, supplies, chips, etc. Last year I was hearing that Q1 this year things would be back to normal - it ain't....I'd be shocked if things got somewhat back to...

I'm getting unknown sender emails that I can't block

I've used a program called Mail Washer before with good results. You run it before you launch Outlook. It downloads your current new email and you can pre-process it with rules to block unwanted emails. Version I last used let you customize the reject message as well. Once done pre-processing...

    first time boat

First boat I remember, and had a blast in, was my uncle's 16' Starcraft with a 9.9 Evinrude tiller on the back. 3 wooden bench seats (mighta been 4). Plenty of room for us young cousins to sit and fish from. He'd partake in a occasional cigar while fishing. Ahh the memories. No speed records...

    Boat TLC questions

Personal preference, either carpet or SeaDek. All my boats are fished from, all have had bloody fish at some point dripping blood on the carpet (pike for one are absolutely messy fish). Know what? It dries and I don't see it. This is on tan carpeting. Worst case, rinse it with a bucket of water...

    Rec gas prices???

CNN, if you trust them, ran a story this morning on gas prices. They're expecting about $5+ by summer with prices expected to start dropping by Labor Day. I might go through 2-3 tanks of gas a season. I fish mostly so its one spot to the next, stop & drift. Minimal usage in grand scheme of...

Looks like a model change as from what I could find they are both same length/width. Would need to know the year (*hint*) you are comparing to confirm.

    Rec gas prices???

$4.39 this morning for 87 octane. Diesel here is $4.99, just passed the sign this morning. Went up $0.20 from Sat to Sun. At that rate, I expect $6/gallon for 87 and $6.50 on the water for ethanol free unless things change quickly. **This is in WNY....Buffalo area.

    What do I have here?

You have a cool/neat looking yard planter until you have documents in hand proving you actually own the boat. That's up to the registering authority...not your buddy. Unless you really want to jump through hoops I would seriously consider re-gifting it back to your buddy and let him/her sort...
