merc. chevy 1984 305 info? need one?

Yes the blocks, rotating assembly and heads are standard Chevrolet small blocks. So you can go 350 or 383.

merc. chevy 1984 305 info? need one?

It's an issue because you are making it an issue.. you could put a 265 267 283 305 350 or even a 383 stroker In it and it would make zero difference. You have an 84 so any small block chevy 1969 to 1985 will work and really you can change your flywheel and go 1986 and newer. You might as well go 350

merc. chevy 1984 305 info? need one?

305 and 350 are externally identical. Only their bores are different. The engine I recommended is $1,500 last I knew right from GM. If you just need an engine that runs a junkyard truck 350 with new head gaskets, core plugs and water pump will do just fine for a few hundred. Don't get cought...

merc. chevy 1984 305 info? need one?

Buy a fresh brand new crate 350 long block from GM, you can get one at the dealer parts counter, or Summit racing or other catalog.. Pull the heads off of it, install marine head gaskets, core plugs and raw water pump, then use your boat intake manifold and a new set of manifolds and risers...

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

I agree, but if it looks like gear oil, and smells like gear oil, it's probably gear oil.. It's clean gear oil like someone just poured it there. I've had it out on the lake once and it ran perfectly.. I have another trip planned for the 9th, and I'll probably just change the gear oil and run...

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

Just glanced at the lower unit tonight and noticed gear oil had leaked from the water intake, so i pretty much know the driveshaft seal is leaking. Going to drain and refill and test to see what happens again but pretty much know I gotta pull it apart again.

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

you could add fresh water cooling/ closed cooling to any engine, but you would want to do it to NEW manifolds and risers ect... rust scale and closed cooling does not mix well.. I think Sierra still makes the I6 manifolds/ risers. The I6 was discontinued in '81, but parts are not hard to find...

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

If you have a complete running 165 6cyl, with manifolds, complete to bolt up, you would be wise to use it.... The 2.5L is basically a 4cyl 250 block, and the 3.0L is built on that platform ( they are not 100% the same )... You can prop your 3.0L drive to work with the 165hp. It's not 100%...

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

show pictures of the heat exchanger... That is for sure a 3.0L leg of the correct vintage. They are easilly swapped but for sure you have a 3.0L leg now. I'm confused because you called the 3.0L obsolete, when it's far from it as it's still in production I think. It's nearing the end of it's...

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

The 3.0l never came with a heat exchanger. That was a 3.7l thing which that boat could have had originally. The outdrive ratio is also different for a 3.7

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

The 3.0L is still being manufactured, and Mercruiser is nearly fully supporting the older ones. Now, you say the boat has a heat exchanger, and that it is a 1989. That almost 100% confirms the original engine was a 3.7L, which was probably pulled when it puked itself from one of the various...

1994 OM. factory manual for my 1995?

Ebay can find used manuals. Sometimes you can get away with an older manual, sometimes not.. For instance I have a 1994 book for my 1997 Evinrude 4hp. 1994 and 1997 are basically identical in a 4hp, but ymmv on a different hp

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

There were 4 people and 2 boats.. One was idling the entire time I was at the dock.. I'd have loaded up the dead boat and taken the good boat to at least get some time on the water.

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

Thanks, and yup. Bilge was bone dry. I upgraded the bilge system But glad I did not even have to turn it on. I had it set on auto anyway It was actually kind of funny. There were 2 go fast boats at the launch. An older smaller Scarab and a Wellcraft of the same type but was not a Scarab...

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

Was a little cloudy. Not smooth as glass. I think the waves in the pic are actually the wake from my boat. I can't remember but I think I had just turned around when I took that picture.. Had 1/2 day window as this was after my 1/2 day at work and tomorrow is supposed to rain, so good enough
