Starcraft Floor Replacement - Plywood? Rivets?

Don't use pressure treated wood period. Modern PT has copper in it and, a little chemistry will tell you what dissimilar metals do to eachother.. ACX,BCX, or even prime sheets of CDX will be just fine. and stainless screws can work just fine

    1985 OMC 3.8 v6 exhaust manifold questions

I think your right.. I had forgot about the Chevy Odd fire V6's. Still based off the SBC but very different in some ways to the 4.3L

    1985 OMC 3.8 v6 exhaust manifold questions

The problem is a double whammy. You have an OMC stringer drive, built in the last year they were manufactured, AND you have a 3.8L which was used pretty much only by OMC, and also 1985 would have been the last year for it. The 3.8L and 4.3L are very different. The 3.8L is a Buick engine...

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

Yup, the top is even marked " Vent ". I use a 1qt outboard gear oil pump and standard Quicksilver gear lube as that is what is available locally, and pump from the drain up to the vent, just like your supposed to.. The first time I changed it, when I noted a little water in the oil I pumped...

    Boat and trailer length

I agree with you, but I was stating that it can make a difference on a D21 pickup. It was designed and built in the time that air shocks were being added for just that. Was it right, no but it worked for what it was.

    Running without Reverse Gate..?

I am not affiliated with this place in any sort. I saw a walk through of this junkyard on Youtube recently and they had a bunch of jet boats. It seems the reverse gate from any Force powered Sport Jet would work, at least in my mind. And pretty much all the jetboats from the mid 1990's except...

    Identifying Eska outboard

It looks like that, because that is exactly what it is.. They were built with Power Products 2 stroke engines that were later branded Tecumseh after they bought Power Products, or the name changed. I don't exactly remember. Toro single stage snowblowers ran a very similar engine until the 2...

    Boat and trailer length

In general yes, but shocks effect the spring rate. On a tiny truck like a D21 it WILL make a difference. This is why things like air shocks used to be popular for towing

    Boat and trailer length

My dad launched and retrieved a 21' Starcraft Chieftain with a 1993 D21 pickup. Actually that truck and trailer/ boat combo traveled 300 miles every weekend through the summer for 3-4 years. It was technically legal, as the dry weight was within the legal limit but fuel and fishing gear did put...

    Boat and trailer length

For whatever trailer you have, the boat sits from the transom on the edge of the bunks forward, to wherever the winch post needs to be, and then the axle can be slid to adjust tongue weight. It sounds like you might be more comfortable with a modern trailer with a longer tongue.

2 cycle oil for my garden tools

A friend of mine was gifted a Poulan Predator chainsaw he wanted to give to his wife later that day. I cleaned it up for him and repaired the recoil, then we realized he was out of 2 stroke oil. I mixed up some 5w30 and gas at 16:1, and that's all she ever ran through it after that point. He...

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

I was wondering that. Seemed like you could pick it out without driving the bushing. I may have bought the bushing though, I don't remember

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

what special tools do I need for this? I watched a video using pretty much all the special tools, but I don't even know where to look, or even if they are needed. I have the 1966 Suppliment manual but could not find the main manual referenced. Found an old Clymer manual for $6 to have something

Intake Valve Coking on Direct Injected Gas Engines: Fact or Myth?

Yup, it's a major problem. Ford redesigned most of their Ecoboost engines with partial indirect injection to combat the issue

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

Yeah, my consideration was using the West marine bottle, I wouldn't even consider leaving broken glass at a public boat launch. I just don't know how many nanny's/ Karen's there are out there that would have an issue with even that.

    Boat Windshield Wiper

Unless your boating in the salt, don't worry about marine wiper blades or being stainless ect... It's probably about a 12" standard J hook wiper. You can likely find the wiper you need at Walmart, or anywhere that sells wipers.. Car's get wet all the time, so buying some special marine wiper is...

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

What is proper way to christen a boat at the boat launch? I have named the boat after someone, and they are going to be the one to smash the bottle.. The only thing is, do I really need to smash a bottle of champagne? Or even pour it over the bow? It's only champagne but seems like park police...

Anyone own a big hardtop Chief?

I grew up on the yellow 21' Mark IV. That was my dads fishing boat of choice for many years. Some of the original interior remained for a while, and actually my dad bought it as a total wreck, where a tree fell on the cabin.. He jacked up the cabin and carefully worked the trim, to the point...
