    Help! Boat trailer issue

Granted I've only ever owned fiberglass boats but to me, that axle looks too far forward. I'd look at moving that back some to rebalance your load. Right now, the way that trailer is setup, the motor is acting like a huge counterweight pulling that trailer tongue up in the air.

    Boat recomendations for Lake Ontario....

Whatever you're thinking, think bigger. Honestly. Unless you're waiting for the lake to be glass, you're gonna need something of size. Especially given the last few years where the lake has whipped up horribly. To give you an idea, mine meets the seating requirement you're after but my wife...

    Gone but not forgotten

Mine was winterized and shrink wrapped last week. All tucked away for another winter. Didn't use it much this season due to Covid - docks were locked down for a while in my neck of the woods and I did not want to contribute to any police funds for breaking those rules. Hopefully next year is...

    Trailer rebuild

Put the supports ahead of the frame member, pull trailer forward to get the boat moved backwards.. Then move the supports under the transom. You're making this much more difficult than it needs to be.

    Trailer rebuild

Here's what we did years ago when we swapped trailers under the '56 MFG in my signature... Dropped the tongue as low as it would go. Place boat stands under the transom (could use cribbing or even old tires if you need to). Raise the tongue of the trailer as high as it would go. Put some boat...

    Chunks on Spindle

I'll admit I'm not that experienced in this stuff but seeing daylight between that spring pack, and what appears to be the top leaf being deformed, I'd be looking at replacing the springs before they fail. Just me, your mileage may vary.

    My first boat (project)

Neat little boat. Controls are very familiar. IF I recall correctly the red lever controlled F-N-R and the large black lever was the throttle. The push buttons on the dash were for start and probably an electric choke. **This is going off my memory of my family's '56 MFG with matching 30HP...

2020 Starcraft Marine MDX Surf 231 IO Surf

Personal opinion... I wouldn't buy prop forward. Here's why...I boat in rocky/stumpy/weedy areas so the prop facing forwards means it's going to be the very first thing to contact structure - the skeg won't save you here. And when I do get "beached" typically I can tilt my traditional...

    Towing Multiperson Tube

Got a question that I think I know the answer to but I want to double check.... Just purchase an Airhead Live Wire 3-person tube for the kiddos this coming summer behind my current boat - Chap 19H20 Ski & Fish. Normally I'd tow a single person tube from the ski eye in the back. Would I need to...

    This year's upgrade

After doing some research online we went to boat shows in Syracuse and Orchard Park (Buffalo) to look at the boats with varying mats. We also saw what Chaparral offered and quite frankly it didn't cover items that we thought should be covered. If you look at the picture below for my model year...

    Well that was entertaining...

Waited on my wife to get out of work on Saturday before taking out the boat to Glenwood Lake in Medina NY. Boys were excited for their fishing trip on the boat. It's a small lake, single ramp with access on the ramp side only - there's a chest high railing on the floating dock that precludes use...

    Surge Brake safety cable question

I have a '05 Four Winns trailer with surge brakes. When I look at the safety cable that connects to the surge brake coupler, it's definitely frayed. I'm assuming this is replaceable. Anyone have a source for a new cable? Any other recommendations while I'm in there doing that work? Trailer is...

Switch from AL to SS prop

2005 Four Winns 200Le (19'6") with 5.0L Volvo Penta SX drive. Currently have a 14 1/2" x21 (pretty sure that was the size I read a couple days ago) - 3 blade. Prop has been repaired once before and needs it again. Was thinking I'd get this repaired to use as a spare and then swap over to a SS...

    Noob Intro

Figure since I registered I should probably introduce myself. I'm Brian in Lockport and have been around boats since the early 80's. My family used to go up to Baptiste Lake in Bancroft ON for a yearly vacation and being on the water my parents sprung for a used boat....'56 MFG 15' with matching...
