    How big is the gap on the ring? Normally .006 to .016 is the end gap.

    I did the wide open test one time. NEVER again!! Tided to the dock isn't the way to get WOT unless you have a test wheel and run it in a test tank. The motor doesn't spool up when tied to the dock. The static timing should get you close enough

    Just use the old gasket and seal with silicone. Then do a comp test after the gaskets been reused. When you install the new gasket, do a comp test to see if the readings are all the same? It won't hurt the gasket until the motor gets hot and melts the sealer on the gasket.

    Sounds like the float needs adjusting? Your motor has a separate tank? tank vent open? When you pump the ball, does it get firm? or fuel comes out the overflow? Test the needle/seat for fuel/air flow. Hook a spark tester to the plug, start motor and watch it as it dies, does it loose spark or...

    Just saw this, sorry!! Does the hose bulb get firm when you pump it up? You using the choke as you try to start? Hold the key in all the while your turning the motor over? Engaging fast idle? What shifter do you have? Pic of the shifter?

    Trim and tilt visible leaks

    Take your time, use a propane torch if needed then start looking for a replacement. I've not had much luck getting the trim unit apart without breaking at least 2 of the 5 screws :( Keep us posted, maybe a few pics as you progress?

    No spark on #2?? Try swapping the packs around and see if the no spark moves to #4??? Try swapping the coils around? The trigger leads are very thin and break under the shrink wrap, tug on them and see if one's loose??

    Puffit: if you've never touched the timing??? Now isn't the time. The timing won't jump or change unless you do something to change it.

    I believe it's a 97 30hp.The ID tag's long gone:( The bottom of the intake is a tiny hose barb, I think it's a recirc oil hose, maybe it's recirc fuel line? Anyone have a diagram for the hoses on this motor? Thanks

    Engine conversion - Is it doable?

    Looks like he's running a single and putting twin anything would be a huge job!!! :) You'll need to do a lot of research as to what will bolt up to your drive. Or find a complete motor/drive system or change to Mercruiser.

    The year could be a 1969? This might be the part# F528068 or 18-3559 You might try Franz Marine he seems to have the parts lists for the older Chrysler.

    Any idea what year the new gear box is from? Always include the year, model and serial numbers on the motor and what ever your working with??? Need the year for better answers.

    Just one bolt??? Man did you get lucky!!!! The exhaust plate: It's famous for breaking bolts and being a real pain to reseal. If possible try to get the surfaces milled so they match up. If not, use lots of sealer.
