Help identifying which 454/ 7.4L engine this is?

That engine is crazy clean. Rust at the manifold / elbow joint can be cleaned up. On next maintenance cycle, you can split them, clean up, prime and paint, then install new "GOOD" OEM graphite gaskets (not the green paper ones) and reassemble. Those capped off fittings are normal for a raw...

    Bravo 1 low water pressure

If there is a possibility is is a questionable sender giving a false reading, the water pressure senders do go bad quite often. There is a quick fix in this video to see if it is the problem.

    Changing remote controls?

Looking at the pictures, those are standard Nylock nuts (locknuts with nylon insert) on rusted bolts. Spray with good penetrating oil and let soak. Rinse and repeat. Should be able to grab the bolt head from the back with a box wrench and work those nuts off.

    bilge problem

Non Volatile RAM. Maintains last known state when power is removed as opposed to volatile, which looses last known state if powered off. This is why some electronics, such as PCs laptops that have a "Cmos" battery to maintain the Bios.

    bilge problem

90% of the newer radios require a constant 12V to maintain memory, but I would guess it would be very close to 0 of a drain.

    Diagnosing trim gauge issues

Probably should start your own post so you can follow up and not confuse the issues for others. But If it bounces all over the place, the contacts in side the puck could be gummed up. Have taken the covers off, pulled the center part out and cleaned the contact surfaces and reassembled. Will...

Topping off a compass, what to use?

HAHAHA. He was confused and mixed big Navy compass gimbal bearings with compass fluid for a small compass. I got what he meant.

    Trim Manual

Are speaking of the drive trim, or the trim tabs? Or an exotic drive trim system. Don't recall ever seeing a "controller" for the drive trim, just the pump assembly controlled by a simple switch on the helm.

    trim tabs or not?

I assumed he had a B1, since it wanders bad. My current boat is a B3 too, and has zip for wander.

    Unknown Short Circuit

OK, thanx for the clarification. I got it. I said starter instead of ignition. Have seen fuel pump prime functions that bypassed the oil pressure switch during starting installed in some applications. Power to the fuel pump is maintained, through oil pressure switch, once oil pressure builds...

    trim tabs or not?

Not difficult at all, but kind of un-nerving for a 1st timer to drill holes in transom. Measure 15 times and drill once. I really liked the dual ram Sport tabs. Made my Chap handle like a completely different boat. The 16's made small adjustments quite effective. The auto retract when ignition...
