    Shallow ramps are better for roller trailers? I beg to differ. Shallow ramps require you to back in further. Roller trailers also make you back in further. Double wammy! When we used to launch our 27' boat on a roller trailer in Lake Powell, our truck was practically under water.

    Same in California. I used to launch all the time in Marina Del Rey and Channel Islands. Both have awesome public ramps. Bunk trailers are lower than roller trailers so no need to back in as far. Now I only launch in freshwater at Big Bear Lake and Lake Tahoe and the boats sit in the water all...

    Since I launch and retrieve once a year for both my boats, wouldn't be an issue. Even when I did launch in salt water with tides, never an issue with a 24' boat at any ramp.

    Start doing annual maintenance on your bearings which means pull the hubs every hear and hand pack. Consider adding brakes to your other axle.     Other than the zerk and the hole that leads to the back of the spindle, it's no different than a normal axle. If you want to use a Beariing Buddy with it, just unscrew the zerk fitting.

    Exactly which is why I said what I did. Remove the hub/drum, check the brakes, check the bearings...hand pack the bearings.

    People should just use iit like a regular hub no matter what. I never use the LAZ-Lube method.

    Get the model number of the actuator assembly and then you can research what is needed after looking at a parts diagram.

    That's not correct and may or not be cause of all of your clunking. Personally, if you have a 2005 TieDown surge brake actuator, be glad you got that much life out of it.

    Mobil 1 Synthetic grease. It's all I use these days for wheel bearings. Its also less than $7/tube at Rockauto. The important thing is that the grease is NLGI 2 rated which the Quicksilver is

    I just use galvanized lag bolts. Used to use carriage bolts but if the nut seizes, you will never be able to get it off without destroying the bolt....major PITA.

    trailer makes banging noise when stop & starting

    It's purpose is to prevent oscillating. Otherwise, when you stopped it would be a constant on/off cycle. It doesn't take much damping. I did buy a new one once and determined the old one was actually fine.
