1992 E'rude 8 hp. link and synch .... deciphering the manual

Another thing....might have been your Johnson issue, choke lever system is fragile and doesn't always want to stay engaged. I sometimes hold it with me finger when pulling the rope. Finest fishing trolling motor ever made!

1992 E'rude 8 hp. link and synch .... deciphering the manual

That crack could be your issue and if the fine idle adjustment knob on the tiller is not working than the tiller throttle adjustment on the back of the motor is not set correctly.

1992 E'rude 8 hp. link and synch .... deciphering the manual

I have that motor....purchased it brand new. Always started perfect and in all these years only had to replace the one ignition coil.(Coil serves both cylinders) Carb is easy, gone through it a few times. Plastic parts are fragile. Sounds to me your slightly lean, still dirty or your not...

1988 120 johnson no voltage to purple wire on alarm.

On your tester....where did you hook up your ground? The brown wire? If so, ground to the battery and turn the key on and test the purple wire. If there is no power replace key switch.

1988 120 johnson no voltage to purple wire on alarm.

Post model number. Nevermind, do not need it. You should have hot to purple if grounded correctly. If your trying to go through the horn and it's defective than that's your problem otherwise you have a wire or corrosion issue.

No I'm wrong, purple is positive but key needs to be on and in neutral maybe. Now I'm brain farting.

1988 120 johnson no voltage to purple wire on alarm.

Didn't answer post 2. I believe the purple wire hooks to ground on the horn. Horn is polarity protected. Test the horn to 12 volts.

    1994 Johnson 150 HP

Not sure but possibly. Pull the hose when it's running and see if it's getting water. If it's not hooked to a battery or hooked up wrong that will burn them up as well.

If you save your picture to a link....like Google does that or post a video on YouTube, not that hard to do and a friend will show you how if you don't know. Pictures aren't working but links are.

    96 Evinrude 50 Cutting Out

It will rev fine in the drive with a week spark....hence the jump test. Your probably right, something else. Best of luck

    96 Evinrude 50 Cutting Out

Jump test is done at home. Outboards are set up to run under load, they all run good in the driveway. All the problems arise when you stick them in the water. You sound frustrated....might want to take a brake.

    96 Evinrude 50 Cutting Out

Did you try pulling one spark plug wire while it was running? If you pull one and it dies that means that's a good cylinder but the other one wouldn't hold up so the other one's junk. If you pull one and it stays running then you most likely have the bad one. So it could be the coil or it could...
