    You have a two wire overheat sensor.....could be the diode in the harness died putting you in safe or limp mode.

    Try pumping the primer ball as it starts to die....if it runs look at or fix the fuel pump. As far as the sensor....replace it.

    Sounds like carburetion.....air coming from somewhere. Spray something combustible around....could be timing though. Your idle circuit should not be spun out that far. Did you rebuild the carbs with OEM parts? Are the plastic carb parts warped?

    Well you know it's not the engine or it's components. Not sure which wire your talking about but my next place would be the key switch. But just in case you do old dumb things like me let's add, is it in neutral? And is the man overboard tether clipped into its spot?

    Yes, I'm a "Catcherman" myself....lots of salmon, cod and halibut. Salt water guy obviously. Many moons ago I watched some TV shows where guys were catching huge giant mutant king salmon on lake Erie. Do they still have those fish? Glad you got the the boat going.

    Sorry....turning over I take it. Grounding wire is still grounded most likely. Race is correct. Unplug the red plug and see if it starts by jumping the solenoid. That will prove that you are hooked up to the wrong wire maybe. Might be a non compatible tach. Make it run, then you know it a...

    Check the fuse back at the motor....it's near the starter solenoid.

    Thermostat is another thing that can go bad. Is this salt or fresh water use?

    Just because it's peeing doesn't mean it can't be plugged up. Overheat warning alarms (solid tone) or vro oil pump (intermittent tone). Learn how to test sensors.
