Guess Who needed a tow home ?

I have it's sister....you have the red headed step sister. Always abused but usually comes through. Mines seen the bottom of the ocean and still runs....minus wiring/starter issues.

Can anyone tell me the name of this part?

Usually unavailable. Test that one or find a used one. Not sure why this problem has been fixed....hoping it has.

    evinrude 115 1 cylinder dead

Very nice of him. Borrow someone else's tester or buy a new one. Lots of testers seem to be off. Remove the head and inspect like you were told. Post pictures.

    evinrude 115 1 cylinder dead

What does 90 s mean? Wire colors may have bleached away. Blue stripe (sky) on top green stripe (grass) on bottom. Your combustion chamber May check out compression wise but what about your internal compression? If your motor doesn't have internal compression it won't push fuel into the...

    Impeller

I think your fine to do nothing but that scenario does not happen here. Saltwater is my issue. I'd say you need to devise a way to fresh water rinse it from time to time. I'm a E-tec owner and there pretty impressive. You need to "learn up" on them though....here is the best web site for Etec's...

    battery stil good ???

Emm is the best thing to ever happen to any motor if you ask me....and especially a 2 stroke. Amazing motor, hope they bring them back. 2005? Must be one of the first.... Kudos to you for keeping it going. In my world, a backup motor is a requirement along with an anchor.

The configuration on the right model is the "weedless" design.

    battery stil good ???

850 I assume is your cca's. I meant group 24....group 27....deep cycle I presume. I use group 31's purchased together every time with a battery switch. Racerone is correct, charge it correctly and have it load tested. Battery company just load tested my two month old battery's and said they...

    battery stil good ???

Funny, and your the wiring guy. What brand and size and how old is it? Batteries today are crap and I'm in a dispute right now with a local company who makes them. If you buy a battery take your meter to the store.

    1987 Johnson VRO70 Model # J70TLCUR Alarm staying on

I would agree. What's interesting is no one is chiming in on how to test the pressure side. I know what my 80's series 110 bubble back had issues, I took it in to the dealer and they replaced the vro pump. That was many years ago and because I did that right away no damage was done to the...

    1996 Johnson 50 Not starting

Will be interesting to see the reply on this one. It appears to me that your magnets are fine and I would think that would be a pretty rare thing but maybe that's older flywheels. I'll be monitoring to see what the what the outcome of this is.

    1987 Johnson VRO70 Model # J70TLCUR Alarm staying on

I forget whether it's normally open or closed but does it affect the alarm? The other is pressure and I don't know how to test....others will know just be patient

1989 88 spl starter barely turns flywheel

The plug wire typically gets ripped off from the boot when somebody puts the cowling on not knowing that it's hooked on the plug wire. I just did it to one yesterday. I typically get about 10 points something volts to the starter after it passes through all the things, personally, I think it's...

    VRO delete fuel mix ratio?

That outboard was designed to work with a VRO hooked up. Somewhat doesn't surprise me that it's not running very well at low RPMs because that's what the vro does is lean back the oil. Your other issues are definitely issues that you need to remedy. Never run an outboard in a lean situation...

    1987 Johnson VRO70 Model # J70TLCUR Alarm staying on

Use a portable tank with 75 to 1 to diagnose the vro. Best to keep the vro in my opinion. Seems like the alarm is possibly working as it should.

    1987 Johnson VRO70 Model # J70TLCUR Alarm staying on

Oil alarm does two things, low oil bottle, (test that the plunger is working correctly) and two low pressure. Your vro pump may have failed. Racerone can tell you what you need to do. (Inexpensive rubber diaphragm).
