    Oil injection delete

Gee, my primer bulbs work just fine, and they are aftermarket. One seems to have a piece of chore-boy inside it. but it still works, just hard to pump.

    1979 40hp lower unit stuck

Have you tried hanging the motor prop up and putting some penetrating oil into the spline area, after it cools from your torch? That tends to suck the oil into the part that is cooling. Some gearcases have the preload pin, most do not.

    Have you ever seen this?

That is your second cylinder firing and then not firing. The question is why? See what the spark plugs look like. It could be carburation, spark or possibly water in the cylinder. I never thought head gaskets needed a "Break-in" period. You might retorque the head bolts.

Fuel Dripping From The Carbs When It's Hot Out - 200HP Johnson 2001

I think it incumbent for you to figure out the origin of the leak. Your motor has a vapor separator with a needle and float, six carbs with needles and floats, plus a vapor pump, OMS pump and other components like vacuum hoses and fuel lines. Any of them could be leaking.

    Outdrive Paint & Prep

Are you planning to use antifouling paint? Doesn't sound like it. If I didn't use A-F paint on my MerCruiser, it would have been all barnacles. Zinc chromate is the best for bare aluminum. Most antifouling paints for aluminum recommend a good barrier paint to protect the aluminum. V-P paint...

    Oil injection delete

Gee, Mark, those primer bulbs have two jobs. Pump fuel and get hard to show the carbs are full. Yours doesn't do at least one of those. I would recommend replacement......

Fuel Dripping From The Carbs When It's Hot Out - 200HP Johnson 2001

Those plastic carbs have a bad habit of developing warped carb bowls which leak. You might look closely and see if it is the bowl-to-body surface that is leaking. Also, check the thermostats. If they stick or collect gunk, that helps the motor overheat, helping the warpage. You should...

    3.0 liter carb problem

Carb new in 2011? Now it is 13 years later. Pull, clean and rebuild the carb completely, I would recommend. Holley's are good carbs. A rebuild should fix you up. Change the fuel filters, if in doubt about their age.

    Is this trailer repairable?

Johnny, The issue that you identified can easily be repaired, however, if the trailer has more extensive rust, as experience shows us, the best plan is to replace it. Masonry supply and other places have thick and strong angle iron. That could be bolted or welded to fix that one area. That...

New canvas bow cover rolling at edges, solutions?

If the top is new, I suspect it is not fitted properly. Depending on how you want your relationship with the canvass shop to evolve, you might ask them if they can fix it, or if all their products look this way. Some fabric edges on covers have a stiffener material inside the hem to help with...

    No spark on Merc 85hp

    I don't understand "carbs won't spray".

    Oil injection delete

Gee, if you cannot feel the primer bulb (regardless of shape) get hard, you have other issues, IMO. Replace it with a primer bulb you can feel get hard.

Fuel coming out of the hose connected to the vapor pump 0433352

If the motor runs on some fuel sprayed in the carbs, the carb idle passages/jets are likely clogged. Your motor has the idle passages and needle in the throttle body. There are covers on the sides of the throttle body, which can be removed exposing the idle mixture needle. I used some gumout...

    1978 mercury outboard

A 1978 Merc 115HP will have a battery powered CDI ignition with a single coil and distributor and 6 cylinders. I would recommend you verify this as years of motors get mixed up all the time. 1979 1/2 saw the changeover to 6 coil distributor less ADI ignition. Jumper the starter and take a...

How to choose an old 2-stroke 150/175 Merc

Yes, I had a 360cc enduro dirt bike some years ago. She had real good power at all RPMs, but if you kept the RPMs near redline as you accelerated, the power was incredible. Of course, with the dinky electrical system she had, you would melt the battery and burn out all the lights at high RPM.

How to choose an old 2-stroke 150/175 Merc

You can check out the forums on the scream and fly website where they discuss "dry stacking". The thing to remember is that 2 cycle engines like some backpressure at the right time in the exhaust cycle. This is the principle of expansion chambers. With the right expansion chamber, at the...

    No sparking v4

A lot of those Johnnyrudes need the flywheel torqued exactly to the spec, or the key will shear. I would therefore recommend you get the exact torque spec, if you don't already have it.

Fuel coming out of the hose connected to the vapor pump 0433352

Normally carb overflow is caused by a faulty inlet needle and seat or incorrect flat adjustment, or perhaps a float that leaks and fills up, or jams in the bowl. However, a lot of those engines have plastic carbs. The bowls warp and all sorts of sealing issues occur. The warpage is...

Gas - Oil Mixture on old Evinrudes outboards

If you have a large tank to premix, it is best to do it in stages. So add a pint of oil, then 6 gal of gasoline, a pint of oil, 6 gal gasoline, until you get close to full. Then 1/2 pint of oil and 3 gal gasoline.
