    Garboard drain cover

I recently purchased this boat and had a survey done and the hull was good. I've far to many that were surveyed good that are in fact not. Best check with the previous suggestions.

Opinions on shop's quoted Bravo 3 maintenance cost

Depends if they come across any issues. Stuck corroded bolts and things like that. An 04 may come apart nicely. Or not. Still labor rates vary in spots also.

    Getting started in northern Washington.

I have to agree with gc. The plywood floor just stuffed in there is a red flag in itself. Who knows if floatation was installed. Myself may buy it but I know how to fix it up properly. Who knows what else is wrong. I boat on lake superior, and get my butt whooped at times, it changes from flat...

CCA for a 30hp 2 cycle Evinrude tiller

you should have a separate battery for the trolling motor. Unless you have a pull start for the main motor.

CCA for a 30hp 2 cycle Evinrude tiller

Shouldn't need much. How old is it? Even on my old school 28hp Evinrude I prefer a group 31 with at least 750 CCA. A group 21 would suffice but I like more capacity.

    Cracked spark plug porcelain-timing?

Quote: Timing - you're going to see with the timing light at idle with "vacuum advance disconnected" should be between 8-12 degrees BTDC. Were ever the motor idles the smoothest. Unquote. Marine distributors don't have vaccume advance. If it does, it has the wrong dizzy in it, not marine rated.

    Wheelchair Accessible Resto-mod

Don't know what size batterys you are using, I put a group 31 in the seat on my toon. It's in a battery box also, fits fine. I also installed vents in the seat base to vent the vapors.

Small Hole Repair - Good Idea or Bad Idea?

Might be just me, but no. The wood will expand/contract over time and pop out the repair. You apparently have the epoxy, mix with a touch of cabosil and fill with that. A lot more permanent repair.

1980 85 hp evinrude starting problems

You never stated if you are using premium fuel, or if you are maby the po didn't. The ethanol fuel likes to degrade the older fuel lines. That might explain the new crud in the carbs.

    Hydrolocked in the parkinglot

The new trim senders have opposing bullet connecters inside the boat, and usually the Puck itself is labeled port/stb . The new wiring comes with the wire adapters for the old system.

    Hydrolocked in the parkinglot

The seal is not needed if you have the non lube bearing. It just to hold the grease from getting to the bilge. If its greaseable, yes stick it in till its seated. Now is the time to replace them trim switches so you don't have to take the whole thing back apart to replace them when they fail soon .

    Correct carb?

I've seen to many that think a bigger carb will make more power, so they do it, then complain that it don't idle right, and performance is no better. I'll rebuild what the factory put on and they are much happier. Kind of like putting a three inch exhaust can on a Honda civic. Lol

Questions about waterlogged foam on 1977 Mckee Craft

Redoing a transom at work as we speak, 25' whaler. The guy just bought it and didn't know how to check it over properly. Trued to tell him it's just a bandaid to repair but he wants it done. I removed the motor pod, cut out the transom and about a foot of saturated foam. Not pretty. We will...

    Do I need repairs?

Looks like it's through to the glass. A trailer queen where its in the water for just a few hours it might be OK. Regardless whatever is scratching it like that should be taken care of. A trailer should not damage the boat. If it were mine I'd fix the damage and fix the trailer.

Bent Transom on Lowe FS175, HELP!

I knew there was wood in there. As I said before, my friends boat was as pretty as yours. But that wood was rotted. I'd still make sure its OK. Its easy to pull a screw and check

Bent Transom on Lowe FS175, HELP!

While there is a possibility there is no wood there. I find it hard to belive. Never saw one without. The thickness of your transom exceeds that .100 spec they show. Take out one of them screws and poke in there.

Bent Transom on Lowe FS175, HELP!

A friend of mine had a similar issue. What you can do is loosen the top channel, just take the screws out without removing the motor. Take a very long screwdriver or stiff wire, push it down through the screw hole. If it keeps going alot further than the screw length it means the wood is rotted...
