Looking for 2013-2018 Chaparral 257SSX Bow Filler Cushion

Welcome to iBoats . . . Most local upholstery shops that deal with automotive /and/or boat upholstery could make one. Check for shops in your area.

    Flotation foam

A picture or 2 may help, but as Scott mentioned, you want to use 2-part urethane closed cell foam that meets USCG spec's for foam. 2lb./cubic foot density is probably OK, but you can go to 4 lb./cubic foot if you want a bit more strength. It may not resolve your issue with the rough water...

1987 Four Winns surprise floor rot

Break out the sawZall and the wallet. You are in for a ride. not worth doing a patch job, probably best to do stringers and check the transom as well.

High compression in 1 cylinder - 7.4 carb

yup, . . . in the previous video the #8 rocker did not seem to be moving as much as the others. You will have to determine if it is the rocker arm or the valve lifter that is at fault.

    Broken Skeg

JB Weld (as the resin) and CSM (fiberglass chopped strand mat) covered it with plastic wrap (Saran wrap) to make it lie flat and smooth.

    Broken Skeg

I'm not a fan of putting more stainless steel on the outdrive. So, I fixed a broken skeg with a piece of aluminum, JB-Weld and some CSM for strength. . . . . It held up quite well.

    Propping Twins Preference/ Theory

If you have ever tried to get a twin engine boat on plane with one engine, you will realize that it may not be possible even with a lower pitch prop. If you did find a low enough pitch prop to do so, in normal operation, it would easily over rev the engine. So, if you prop slightly lower than...

FACTORY PARTS..... a bit of a rant....

I usually try to buy OEM for the exact reasons stated. Of course I feel defeated when the OEM part says “Made in China” on the package.

    1988 Bayliner Restore or Replace

I like the idea of using all synthetic materials (rather than wood) for a restoration. The challenge is always trying to manage the cost of materials. If you do use wood, 'Exterior' grade plywood is more than adequate. No need to use 'Marine' grade. The main difference between the two are...

    KIA Telluride for towing?

Has to do with the recent recall . . . https://www.silive.com/news/2023/03/hyundai-kia-recall-additional-570k-vehicles-due-to-fire-risk.html The boat is not very heavy . . . I can't imagine towing should be a problem.

Wouldn't Rinker be able to tell you the number of the eisenglass, and perhaps even provide a new one.

Showing the Boston Whaler 13 some TLC . . .

OK . . . New fuel pump installed and the engine is back up and running. There was a fairly large (and rusty) lifting arm for the now defunct trim/tilt system, which I removed by way of the impact driver. It makes for an easier reach for the tilt lock latch. The LU had a fair amount of...

    Bow light not working

Unless we get some more info from the OP ( @rjmman ) it is all speculation. I am holding out for a SPDT switch with the wire reversed . . . :D

Outboard loses prime, unless I stand the tank on end

You might be able to get a view of the fuel pick-up from the cap fitting itself. Perhaps no need to take things apart. It seems like the fuel pick-up is not laying on the bottom of the tank. Does the fuel system prime if the tank is fairly full?

    1991 wellcraft rebuild

As stated, some pictures will help. You probably have quite a bit of work ahead of you before fiddling with the engine/outdrive. You probably want to understand if there are any horsepower limits to the Wellcraft model that you have. While you are rebuilding the boat, you can keep an eye out...
