The SAEJ1171 is just a marine safety standard
With it saying Petronix then it has been changed from points to electronics.
Could be the Petronix burned out.
Measure voltage on the + side of the coil with key ON not running
Welcome
Could be a lot of things
Being a new to you boat there is a lot of things that should be done before ever taking it out the first time
Start with checking the fuel filter.
When boat dies pump the throttle and look down throat of carb to see if there is any fuel in the carb
Being a 85...
37619T with 5 1/2 water pump pulley 52 inches
816295T with 7 inch water pump pulley 52 1/5 inch, Sierra 15-15490
Search for length and several will come up. Do need to know how wide the belt is so just measure
Thanks for the SN, your have a 555 ECM
With the solid alarm the ECM is seeing either the drive lobe bottle low or overheat. Disconnect the lube bottle and the ECT sensor on the thermostat housing. The ECT will have 2 wires on it
Any timing light is good, but the advance type is easier. Also depends on how well you can see timing marks on damper
Color leads to running rich, might just happen more so at idle
To time EST need to connect shunt and by pass interrupter
As Bondo mentioned in first thread there is detonation going on, and the run on after shut down and hard start all lead to incorrect timing.
Don't have the manual for your motor but Merc timing can be anything from 1*BTDC to 2*ATDC depending on the serial number. Merc uses the Delco EST...
One of the pink wires comes direct from the MPR, the other comes thru a fuse for the FP
To not have power on either then there is a break in connection, blown fuse or both. The weird thing is how are you getting the 2 beeps if no power is coming thru MPR?
A Tach can be rebuilt but most times it cost more then a new one, just have to check
Keeping it simple, the Tach counts pulses. The pulses come from the coil firing. To fire the coil the Neg side gets switched to ground real quick, then opens back up.
The key is opening back up.
So if the...
Your getting the beeps which means the main power relay (MPR) is energizing. Once that happens the ECM applies a ground to one side of the fuel pump (FP) relay to turn it ON.
The square relays on the motor are all the same. Swap the relays and see if you still hear the 2 beeps. If you hear the...
Maybe think out of the norm.
Depth gauge is always good to have but with no room, under the throttle, under the helm, back by rear seat, in a cup holder. Could put anywhere, running wires are easy enough
